ANNOUNCE AUTUMN US HEADLINE TOUR

Genre-defying, Nashville-based quintet and live sensations Rainbow Kitten Surprise have shared a new single entitled Drop Stop Roll – streaming on all platforms now via Elektra Entertainment. The track notably marks the band’s first new music since 2022.
Evoking the collective’s creative magic once more, Drop Stop Roll – a fan favorite that the band has been playing live for the past year – glides along on a glassy clean guitar melody and steady beat on the way towards an instantly chantable chorus. It unfurls with a hypnotic harmony uplifted by psychedelic flourishes and ponderous lyrical poetry, creating a mesmerizing sonic experience.
Additionally, Rainbow Kitten Surprise have expanded their already stacked 2023 tour schedule. Renowned for highly energetic and unforgettable shows, they will embark on a seven-week North American headline jaunt this autumn. Support comes from Indigo De Souza and flipturn on select dates. The band is offering VIP packages including premium seating, early entry into the venue, and limited-edition band merchandise. Rainbow Kitten Surprise have once more partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to local food banks working to fight hunger and food insecurity. They also just earmarked the fifth anniversary of their fan favorite 2018 LP How to: Friend, Love, Freefall, with the launch of their Propeller Artist Hub. It notably features exclusive colorways of three albums, signed copies of How to: Friend, Love, Freefall, and a commemorative limited-run How to: Friend, Love, Freefall t-shirt available for purchase. All proceeds benefit organizations the musicians believe in and support, including official partners ACT – Abortion Care Tennessee, REFORM, PLUS1, Nashville Launch Pad Street Free Sleep, and Music Health Alliance. They also continue to give back to MAPS, Sandy Hook Promise, and Bloom.
The band has already had a remarkable 2023, having achieved RIAA-platinum certification for their standout single It’s Called: Freefall. This achievement was followed by the release of their highly emotional track Work Out in 2022, marking their first new music in nearly two years. The song’s beautiful melody-line and effervescent vibe stands in stark juxtaposition to its poignant lyrics about the difficult relationships – of all sorts – that people struggle with. Work Out arrived alongside a lyric video, handwritten by RKS frontperson Ela Melo (watch here). The stunning official visual was directed by Joey Brodnax and released last June (watch here).

As if channeling another dimension where genres simply don’t exist, Rainbow Kitten Surprise finds harmony in unpredictability – weaving together lyrical poetry, hummable melodies, and a rush of instrumental eccentricities. Now boasting over 1 billion global streams across platforms, the band first began building their devoted fanbase with independent albums SEVEN + MARY (2013) and RKS (2015). The band’s breakout full-length debut for Elektra, HOW TO: FRIEND, LOVE, FREEFALL, arrived in April 2018. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winner Jay Joyce (Cage The Elephant, Sleeper Agent), the album featured RIAA-certified Platinum single It’s Called: Freefall, earned widespread praise from Billboard, TIME, Vice, and NPR who described their sound as “…a mix of jam and indie and whatever else you can throw into the soup…very earnest, beautiful, political, loving rock n’ roll,” and saw the band make several national television appearances, including performances on CBS Saturday Morning, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and PBS’s Austin City Limits. After gracing the bills of Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga, to name a few, RKS moved 80,000 tickets of their own on the sold-out 2018/2019 Friend, Love, Freefall Tour. That tour was earmarked by a sold-out debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and three consecutive gigs in Athens, GA (the latter of which were chronicled on their first official live album, LIVE FROM ATHENS GEORGIA, released in 2021).
The band released a two-track single Mary (B-Sides) in May 2019 – consisting of Heart and No Vacancy. The following year brought the release of standalone single Our Song – already a fan favorite in their live rotation prior to release – as well as a livestream concert in July, held for thousands of fans on what would’ve been the date of another sold-out Red Rocks performance (cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). In March 2022, the band released the emotionally charged track Work Out, marking their first new music in nearly two years.
2022 also saw the band set out on their first full headline trek in nearly 3 years, a run that included their long-awaited, sold-out, two-night return to Red Rocks. And in 2022 alone, Rainbow Kitten Surprise raised over $170k for food banks in local tour markets, LGBTQ+ causes, and mental health initiatives with the help of partners PLUS1 and Propeller.
