Things Are Different Now as a whole reflects a turning point for RAIN CITY DRIVE, with the band embracing a more introspective and layered approach to their songwriting. The album dives into themes of change, emotional conflict, and growth, all while maintaining infectious energy and raw passion the has defined their sound. From the hard-hitting tracks to the more vulnerable moments, the album paints a vivid picture of transformation and resilience.

RAIN CITY DRIVE – ‘Wish You the Best’

‘Wish You The Best’ encapsulates the inner turmoil of a love gone wrong—where the desire to move on clashes with lingering feelings of hurt and obsession. The song’s biting lyrics reflect a battle between bitterness and longing, as the narrator wrestles with a fractured relationship that’s left scars. The track’s emotional weight is matched by a dynamic production that blends captivating vocals and enchanting soundscapes, making it both a cathartic anthem and a heart-wrenching confession. The visual component further amplifies the intensity of the track, bringing to life the song’s themes or inner conflict and emotional fallout.

Lyrically, ‘Wish You The Best’ expresses a complex emotional landscape: a mix of resentment and yearning that anyone who has experienced a toxic relationship can relate to. The line “we watered the flowers with gasoline, now everything’s dying in front of me” poignantly captures the self-destructive nature of the relationship while the repeated refrain “I only wish you the best even though you’re the worst” reveals the struggle between letting go and holding on. The song explores the painful realisation that some relationships are beyond repair, yet they continue to haunt the heart and mind long after they’ve ended.

In discussing the new single, vocalist McAndrew explains:
“Sometimes when people break up they say things like ‘I wish you the best’, but really they mean ‘f*** you’. I was seeing someone on and off and we kept saying it to each other. I don’t think either of us actually meant it.”

About RAIN CITY DRIVE:

RAIN CITY DRIVE are pushing their own musical boundaries. The Palm Coast band is building on its post-hardcore roots while boldly breaking into the realm of contemporary pop rock. With a mix of heavy riffs, soaring vocals, and poetic lyrics, RAIN CITY DRIVE ’s sound is a sonic blend of raw power and intimate emotion.

Formed in 2020, the members of RAIN CITY DRIVE first came together when lead singer Matt McAndrew met guitarists Felipe Sanchez and Weston Richmond, bassist Colin Vieira, and drummer Zack Baker in Manchester, England. Thrown together by a twist of touring fate, the group of five immediately gelled into a cohesive band with a powerful sound. Far from their base in Palm Coast, Florida, Manchester’s rainy backdrop would inspire the band’s name.

RAIN CITY DRIVE, also known as RCD, has amassed over 100M streams in the US, 150M worldwide, and over 900K monthly listeners on Spotify. Their songs ‘Talk to a Friend’ and ‘Heavier’, from the 2020 album To Better Days, have garnered 100 million streams. The band pushed their sonic output even further with their 2022 self-titled album, Rain City Drive“We wanted to expand the umbrella we created within To Better Days, whether to explore our poppier side or dive into different lyrical themes.”

Their self-titled record garnered significant recognition, with songs in rotation on SiriusXM Octane. Their single, ‘Cutting It Close’, landed at #5 on Sirius Octane’s Big Uns. RCD racked in playlist placements on New Noise, New Rock, The Core, Hard Rock, Pop Punk’s Not Dead, The Pit, and Volume Maximo.

Fans are following the band into their next musical venture with ‘Medicate Me’, a track showcasing RCD’s perfect blend of heavy melodies and an electrifying pop sound. “With each release, we stretch out a bit, filling in more of our vision while staying true to our roots… We’re always trying to go into uncharted territories, and our upcoming record reflects that,” says McAndrew of RAIN CITY DRIVE‘s upcoming release.
