Legendary British drummer Nicholas Barker was diagnosed with kidney failure earlier this year, after several hospitalisations including some while being on tour. Having previously sat on the throne driving the beat for names including Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Testament, Brujeria, Lock Up and many, many more, Nick has spent the last 33 years dazzling audiences across the world with his performances while bringing smiles and laughter to those lucky enough to encounter him personally along the way. Currently unable to tour due to a heavy dialysis schedule which sees him hooked up to a machine for several hours out of every 48, the tap to his main source of income is now turned off. To boost a Go Fund Me campaign which was set up in June, Pure Sound Promotions are putting on a benefit show at London’s Black Heart, with the hope of raising further funds to help support Nick and his family during these difficult times. A night of extreme metal music at the iconic Black Heart venue in Camden will pay tribute to Nick’s unparalleled contributions to metal. Sponsored by Nuclear Blast Records and featuring sets from DAMIM, 10 PLAGUES, SANGUINEM, CORPSING and PRIMAL DAMNATION, the event will also see a prize raffle hosted by Mr Barker himself. Prizes include rare memorabilia from bands Nick has played with including CDs, T Shirts, and signed cymbals. Donate to the Go Fund Me page here.
