PURE REASON REVOLUTION launch Cruel Betrayal (Wondastation Remix); announce further The Dark Third 20th anniversary shows

Progressive alternative rockers Pure Reason Revolution are pleased to announce ‘Cruel Betrayal (Wondastation Remix), a remix/reworking of the track ‘Betrayal’ from their most recent studio album ‘Coming Up To Consciousness’. You can check out the track here: https://purereasonrevolution.lnk.to/CruelBetrayalWondastationRemix-Single

Jon Courtney comments: “Love this epic mix from Wondastation, it’s a real journey, pulling in the listener from start to end. Betrayal has been dissected, but beautifully reassembled, pushing the track to harmonic heights, enjoy!”

The band recently announced that in 2026 they will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album ‘The Dark Third’, with some select appearances including original member Chloë Alper. The following dates are so far confirmed:

7th February 2026 – Midwinter Prog Festival, Utrecht, Netherlands

13th February 2026 – Club Academy, Manchester, UK

15th February – Islington Assembly Hall, London, UK

The band recently released a digital deluxe edition of their latest album, featuring instrumentals of the entire album, two stripped down versions, as well as a remix of the track ‘Betrayal’ by KC Blitz (Bring Me The Horizon), you can listen now here: https://purereasonrevolution.lnk.to/CUTCDeluxe

‘Coming Up To Consciousness’ is the third of its post-hiatus renaissance records that began with 2020’s ‘Eupnea’ and continued in 2022’s ‘Above Cirrus’. Like those two predecessors, the new record is intensely personal. Its eight tracks are all between four and seven minutes long – concise by PRR standards – and they grapple with darkness of various kinds.

The band was thrilled to work with multiple members of prog icon The Pineapple Thief; the record was mixed by Bruce Soord, mastered by Steve Kitch, and sees Jon Sykes playing bass on one track. ‘Coming Up To Consciousness’ is also the third PRR album to feature cover art by Jill Tegan Doherty, who Courtney originally met in Berlin on a German language course.

The album is available as a Limited CD+DVD Digipak (featuring 5.1 Surround Sound & High Resolution Stereo Mixes), Standard CD Jewelcase, as well as a Gatefold ReVinyl LP (Recycled Vinyl), and digitally in both stereo and Dolby Atmos.
