Pure Noise Records and Pabst Blue Ribbon teamed up for the third consecutive year to present ‘Dead Formats Volume 3’, a 16-track compilation featuring the Pure Noise Records roster featuring artists that tug the heartstrings of nostalgia like Spanish Love Songs, Senses Fail, Cloud Nothings and ‘68. “The only other cover song we’ve ever released is a version of The Boys Are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy, back in 2013. I don’t know anything about what Thin Lizzy singer Phil Lynott was like as a person, and I wish I knew less about what Glenn Danzig was like a person, but I think having our only cover songs be The Boys Are Back in Town and Halloween 1 & 2 genuinely speaks to the type of people we are. In the immortal words of Danzig: Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween.” – Dylan Baldi – Cloud Nothings “Since our sound is more like two hot rods colliding into a pile of guitars, we wanted to cover a song from a different genre altogether. Beastie Boys was an easy decision because their influence on ‘68 is obvious, if you listen deep enough.” – Josh Scogin – ‘68 Listen to ’68 version of Intergalactic (Beastie Boys Cover) HERE or by clicking the image below.

The concept with Volume 1 was originally curated as a way for fans to discover new, like-minded bands, the same way legendary comps like Atticus’ Dragging The Lake, Punk O Rama, or how the Vans Warped Tour Compilations did in the 90’s and 2000’s. The following compilation, Volume 2, spotlighted an array of artists from across the years such as The Seafloor Cinema, Mugshot, Knuckle Puck, and more. “PBR is ingrained within music culture so working with Pure Noise Records for the past three years on a project like ‘Dead Formats’ has been amazing. They’re able to curate a solid lineup of their artists to cover songs in a whole new light by putting their own twists on it. It’s killer to be part of the process of getting these bands in the studio to showcase their creativity; we’re always stoked to be a part of it.” – Hunter Cox – Brand Manager, Pabst Blue Ribbon RELEASE SCHEDULE: September 12th, 2024 : Vinyl Pre-Orders ’68 – Intergalactic
