PRINCESS SUPERSTAR
SHARES THE NEW SINGLE ‘GODDESS’ – A SPIRITUAL SEQUEL TO THE ‘SALTBURN’ SMASH ‘PERFECT’ – LISTEN HERE
Princess Superstar rose like a phoenix from the flames as the ‘Saltburn’ soundtrack prompted a massive wave of discovery for her shimmering Mason collab ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’. Having amassed 250 million+ streams, earned Gold certification, and taken her to #26 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart and into the Top 10 of the Billboard Dance Chart for the first time, the track then hit another big moment when the soundtrack album was nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media at the Grammy Awards. ‘Perfect’ has also recently been nominated for a Music Week marketing award.
But there’s a whole lot more to the incendiary force that is Princess Superstar than just ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ – as she now proves by sharing her next smash ‘Goddess’.
A thrilling, thumping hybrid of hyperpop rave intensity and throwback indie-sleaze/electro-clash, ‘Goddess’ sees Princess Superstar unleash her seductive rhymes with searing self-confidence. And while it’s dripping with sensuality, there’s a playfulness to her provocation that’s irresistibly fun. Its message is simple: forget any body confidence doubts and ignore the haters, because you’re a fucking goddess.
Princess Superstar says, “I wrote this song to help everyone connect with their inner gods and goddesses – that moral compass of love that’s inside everyone. It’s also my homage to gay culture and the ‘over the top’ attitude that has made me who I am. It’s a kind of sequel to ‘Perfect’ in a way. ‘Perfect’ all grown up!”
Princess Superstar wrote the track with producer extraordinaire and solo artist Oscar Scheller (Ashnikko, PinkPantheress, Rina Sawayama). It was subsequently mastered at Abbey Road by Geoff Pesche, renowned for his work on Spice Girls’ iconic megahit ‘Wannabe’.
If you somehow still have any lingering doubts about Princess Superstar’s goddess status, check out the track’s accompanying video. Switching between a Greek goddess and a modern sex symbol, the visual shows that Princess Superstar’s supreme confidence, uncompromising attitude and magnetic charisma is next level. The video was filmed in London.
Sometimes a combination of hardwork and good fortune provides an artist with an unexpected second chapter, and that’s precisely what happened to Princess Superstar. She had two big hits in the early 2000s; worked with Lana Del Rey, Prodigy, Moby, Grandmaster Flash, Amy Schumer and Margaret Cho; and released seven studio albums.
Yet even just two years ago, her current resurgence seemed unlikely. But ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ and ‘Saltburn’ fired her back to prominence, which she capitalised upon with an array of international shows including UK sets at Brighton Pride’s FABULOSO, Warwick Castle (with Mika) and False Idols at Drumsheds (on a bill with fellow soundtrack star Sophie Ellis-Bextor).
Complementing her work ethic with a flair for engaging social media, Princess Superstar’s reels and TikToks have exceeded a combined total of 15 million views, with 4 million likes on TikTok. But music is her main focus, with SXSW the first confirmed event in a big year of touring to come – and a long awaited new album might just be on the cards in 2025…
