Today, Long Island hardcore band Overthrow release their new album Setting the Price., the band’s first record in 26 years. Recorded with Chris Fasulo of East Coast Recordings and mastered by Dave Roman at 4130 Mastering, the album features nine tracks that zig zag between metal and punk, underpinned by sharp breakdowns and hard-hitting vocals. Lyrically it’s a mix of confrontation and reflection, driven from setbacks and real-world issues.

Originally formed in 1995, Overthrow gained recognition with their split with Voice of Reason on Stillborn Records, followed by the 1999 full-length album React released through Triple Crown Records. Now back in full force and finishing what they started, Setting the Price captures the band’s progression in sound – raw, honest, and driven by purpose.

“End Complete” kicks off the album with shifting tempos and a stomping breakdown, instantly displaying the band’s ability to balance heavy and groove. Title track “Setting the Price” addresses the opioid crisis in America with enraged lyrics delivered over a fast punk beat. On “What Lies Ahead,” the band enlist Rick Jimenez (Extinction A.D., This Is Hell) to supply gritty guest vocals on the soaring song about self-worth. The album ends with “Remembrance,” an epic five minute long closer that showcases Overthrow’s melodic side in a heartfelt track dedicated to a friend that tragically passed away.
