Bristol-based alt-rock band Our Nameless Boy have released new track ‘(Not in My Name)’ alongside a music video. The track is the second to be released from their upcoming EP ‘Thorns’, out 10th April via Bandcamp and on all other platforms from 17th April.

“‘(Not In My Name)’ highlights the hollowness I often perceive in political speeches and discourse; that there are certain things that almost shouldn’t need to be said, and then when they are, it feels like there’s no substance or action to back those words up,” says Iain Gorrie (guitar, lead vocals) of the new track.

With the video for ’38 being very cinematic, with (Not in My Name) we wanted to stick to a more performance based video. Our good friend, videographer and ‘I, The Lion’ singer, Chris Evans, suggested using mirrors as the main aesthetic, and we quite liked that we could metaphorically hold these mirrors up to the main character in the song, who is using their platform to publicly denounce the actions of others whilst doing nothing to actually counter such actions; ‘mirroring’ the kind of posturing we often see from politicians in the House of Commons. Having little to no eye contact from us as we’re performing highlights how this character refuses to take a good look…” he adds.

Inspired by the emotionally charged, quiet/loud and sometimes frenetic dynamics of the late ‘90s/‘00s US alternative/emo scene (think Manchester Orchestra, Thrice, and MewithoutYou), Bristol based alt-rock band Our Nameless Boy bring their own brand of raucous energy to their performances, with songs that are hard hitting and subtle in their intricacies.

Whilst their 2021 album ‘Colour from the Doves’ provides a deeply personal account of a Iains’ battle with cancer, more recently Our Nameless Boy have set their sights more outwardly, attempting to make sense of the modern human condition through narratives intended to inspire empathy and self-reflection both in themselves and others. The new 4-track EP ‘Thorns’ (self-release) is set for release on 10 April via Bandcamp and will be available on all other platforms from 17 April.

The band have also announced an EP Release Show at The Croft, Bristol on 15th May. Buy tickets HERE. Other live dates listed below.
