In the closing month of 2024, twenty-five year old, London-based producer Oscar Farrell released his first piece of music into the world. Entitled ‘Why Won’t You Tell Me’, it arrived just in time to leave an indelible mark on the year while providing an enticing introduction to a vital new UK talent. The track release coincided with an incendiary set at Brixton’s Phonox for the second ever dh2club night – the label Oscar now calls home. Playing alongside label-head George Daniels, Kelly Lee Owens, Taylor Skye (Jockstrap) and Bodhi it was clear to the sold-out crowd that Oscar Farrell is an artist who unquestionably occupies his own, very distinct lane, a fresh new arrival in the ever-evolving UK electronic and dance music world.
Today, he announces his debut EP – “I’ve Already Called” – out on 14th March via dh2. Across just five tracks, Oscar’s illuminating new body of work reflects his deep understanding of a variety of club-styles – taking in airy moments of 2-step, grounding basslines and glitchy, chopped vocals (provided by Oscar himself).
News of Oscar’s forthcoming release follows a busy period of collaboration and creation, having spent much of last year delivering high-profile remixes for artists like George Daniel (Screen Cleaner), DJ Seinfeld (I Feel Better) and Kelly Lee Owens (Higher). In addition to his work as a producer, Oscar serves as the musical director and bassist for Sampha’s live shows. His dual expertise in performance and production gives his music a dynamic edge, offering listeners both intricate studio craftsmanship and the visceral energy of live instrumentation.
As well as announcing his debut EP, today also sees the release of brand new single ‘Running Free’ with it’s accompanying Pablo Gallegos directed video.
