NIK NXK (Nik Nocturnal) slams the music industry in new controversial single, “INDUSTRY”

NIK NXK (Nik Nocturnal) slams the music industry in new controversial single, “INDUSTRY”; watch video for “INDUSTRY” now

After dropping the smash single “Isolation” last month, NIK NXK (Nik Nocturnal’s trap metal moniker) returns today with producer deadwait (Corpse’s producer) to unleash the controversial “INDUSTRY” – a track that takes aim at the exploitative practices of the music business. NIK NXK comments: “‘INDUSTRY’ isn’t directed at anyone specific. It’s just the long-told tale of artists getting absolutely destroyed by parts of the music industry – that make them give up any unique talent and potential they have to live their dream – in exchange for broken promises that further grow the power the industry has on artists.”

NIK NXK – “INDUSTRY” lyrics

Fuck the industry, I don’t wanna be

Just another name lost in a spreadsheet

Fuck the industry, double back on me

Once you see it you’ll believe you won’t disagree

Fuck the industry, I don’t wanna be

Just another name lost in a spreadsheet

Fuck the industry, double back on me

Once you see it you’ll believe you won’t disagree

Sign a deal with the devil just to get on their level

Offering blood sweat and tears in exchange for wasted years

Taking all that you’ve worked for and you want to create

Making money from music you cannot relate

Faking virality is a formality fucked up mentality far from reality

Name of the game is unoriginality upload a TikTok to score a fatality

I CAN’T DO THIS…

ANYMORE

Fuck the industry, I don’t wanna be

Just another name lost in a spreadsheet

Fuck the industry, double back on me

Once you see it you’ll believe it live in misery

You won’t disagree

Double back on me

FUCK THE INDUSTRY

LIVE IN MISERY

FUCK THE INDUSTRY

LIVE IN MISERY

FUCK THE INDUSTRY

LIVE IN MISERY

About Nik Nocturnal

Since launching his YouTube channel in 2014, Nik Nocturnal has worked tirelessly on content, bringing his idiosyncratic and passionate take on metal to everything that he does, making it clear that the music matters to him – and his irreverent sense of humor does not hurt. “It started out as a means of finding ways to share my music as a solo musician that accidentally made me fall in love with content creation and building a community,” he explains. “I’m basically providing unique perspectives/takes on the metal scene and music, while actually having a proper background in this music and the industry.”

Taking four or five years to build up a substantial following on YouTube (currently with over 600k subscribers!), he gained a favorable reputation amongst fans and artists alike – which led to creating a Twitch channel in 2020. This opened up a whole new avenue for interacting with the community, where Nocturnal could invite the bands that he was supporting to be involved with his content too. Amongst these, some of his personal highlights include Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine), Nick Hipa (Mire, As I Lay Dying, Wovenwar), Howard Jones & Jared Dines (Sion, Killswitch Engage, Light The Torch), Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel), Matt Heafy (Trivium, Ibaraki) and Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach). “It’s an amazing feeling to get respect from people I looked up to when I was a kid, especially because I didn’t make it here through traditional band routes.”

Nocturnal is also consistently working on collaborations with artists, including a 2000’s-Metalcore-style release with Phil Labonte (All That Remains), a Trap Metal project with producer deadwait (Corpse’s producer), and even covers of classic Deathcore songs with Will Ramos (Lorna Shore). At the same time, Nocturnal has his own band, Termina, in which he plays all the instruments and Andy Cizek (Monuments, Makari, WVNDER) provides the vocals.
