NIHILANTH release new EP ‘Detritus Of Ruin’ out on 20th March

NIHILANTH release new EP ‘Detritus Of Ruin‘, out on 20th March.

Northern Irish metal outfit Nihilanth return with their blistering new EP, Detritus Of Ruin, due for release on March 20th, new single ‘Don’t Pray For Me’ is out now.

“Detritus of Ruin” marks the second EP release from Nihilanth. Following the release of their first EP “Destroyer of Worlds”, the band went through several lineup changes, now they say they have found their sound, comprising a raw and aggressive tone with lots of groove, and of course breakdowns.
“Lyrically the EP has a dark undertone, we touch on subjects close to home such as self-destruction. But also, observations on the world around us, corruption and prejudice we see and experience in organised religions, hatred towards the “other” because we have been forced fed lies and propaganda to server the interests of the wealthiest 1%.
Creativity we also wanted to step it up this time around, adding  bits of synth or strings to add more layers to the songs sonically.”

Throughout the EP you can hear a mix of influences on individual tracks like “Fractured” with the blend of modern metal and “Don’t Pray For Me” leaning into a more the death metal vibe.
These influences are merged and captured perfectly with songs like “Ruin”, the first single that was released. This song is a dark and honest look at your inner self and the struggles with self-destructive behaviours. Featuring guest vocalist Patrick Scanlon from Belfast hardcore giants If It Bleeds.

“Fangs” is another highlight with a real mixture of influences coming across and presented in the unique sound that has made Nihilanth well known and a force to be reckoned with.
This EP is without a doubt what Nihilanth is.

Across the EP, raw aggression is balanced with atmosphere and control. Breakdown sections are delivered with purpose, while subtle layers of synths and strings expand the band’s sonic scope without diluting their core intensity. Themes of self-destruction sit alongside wider societal observations, tackling corruption, prejudice and the influence of organised religion with unflinching honesty.

‘Detritus Of Ruin’ is not a reinvention but a realisation. It is the sound of a band that has weathered change, sharpened its identity and emerged heavier, tighter and more confident than ever.
