29th September 2023 – New York, NY – Zac Farro, best known as the drummer for Grammy-nominated band Paramore, reveals today that his band halfnoise will release a new full-length studio album – City Talk – on November 17th via his label Congrats. On the new album, Farro’s artistry and intentionality shines as he steps into the roles of songwriter, frontman, and co-producer, inviting the listener to really let go. For the new LP, Farro worked with artists like Henry Solomon (HAIM) and Jared Solomon (Remi Wolf) and enlisted Daniel McNeil (White Denim, Mac DeMarco) to mix and co-produce, while Adam Grover (Zach Bryan, Surfaces, Rainbow Kitten Surprise) mastered the 11-song set.

Farro has accomplished just that with an inspired tracklist that twinkles and swirls with 1980’s Japanese city pop sounds, saxophones, and sultry lyricism. On today’s single, the Giorgio Moroder inspired “Love Fire” – listen HERE, Farro takes the listener on a sonic journey through space and time. The new single follows the vibey and seductive “Cool Cat” and the super infectious indie anthem “Baby” – a song Farro played live each night during Paramore’s 2023 tour to arena-sized singalongs.

“‘Love Fire’ was the last song written on City Talk – I connected with friend Jared Solomon (Remi Wolf) one afternoon at his studio in LA and we made the song in a matter of hours. He took a call and let the song loop and I wrote all the lyrics then. One of my favorite collaborations on the album. It was a super quick and inspired session. With a talented team of musicians and producers by his side, Farro took to Los Angeles to bring the SoCal-infused vision of City Talk to life, creating an album that is as sharply composed as it is emotionally resonant. Flexing his world-building muscles, he worked to create a catalog of sound that serves as an ode to both the city of angels, as well as his creative collaborators and friends there.

While halfnoise’s previous album, Motif, made for a dense, dutiful love letter that leaned into Farro’s own vulnerability, City Talk makes the most of mystery, instinct, and vibration. halfnoise is the creative brainchild of multi-faceted artist and musician Zac Farro. With an innate ability to blend and transform genres, evoke emotions, and craft immersive, sentimental sonic landscapes, halfnoise has emerged as a unique, refreshing presence in the contemporary music scene. Growing up in Tennessee, Farro found his calling in music as the drummer for the Grammy-nominated band Paramore, where his rhythmic prowess and artistic sensibilities quickly garnered attention. However, while each release, culminating in the most recent, City Talk, ranges in sounds and references, from reggae to the Beach Boys, there is a dreaminess and danceability that is the heartbeat to all halfnoise projects, and it always comes through.
