Today, Love Fame Tragedy announces second album Life Is A Killer out 19th January via Bright Antenna Records. The solo project from Matthew “Murph” Murphy, guitarist and lead singer of platinum-selling indie heroes The Wombats, returns to showcase new single ‘Slipping Away’ and its Spencer Ford (Jawny / spill tab / Gus Dapperton) directed music video. Throughout ‘Slipping Away’, Murph puts an upbeat spin on the changes that can happen in a marriage and how feelings evolve over time. Reflecting themes of love and relationships, the new single signifies a completely transparent and personal era for Murph, as he experiments with new sounds and unveils an unknown side to him.

Murph says “‘Slipping Away’ is loosely based on what it’s like to be with someone after the honeymoon period has ended. Feeling like a veil has been lifted and you both see each other in the cold light of day, for the first time. It’s about formulating a plan to deal with other people’s imperfections as well as your own.”

Life Is A Killer is Murph’s truest album to date. As the songwriter navigates his way through balancing life as father of two and touring the world with The Wombats, he explores themes of self-reflection and managing family life throughout the album. Written over a span of two and half years in between London and LA, this is the most lyrically raw music Murph has ever released. With the help of producers Jacknife Lee (U2, The Killers, Snow Patrol) and Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag N Bone Man, The Wombats) Life Is A Killer pushes the boundaries of Murph’s sound and sonics.

Named after a revered Pablo Picasso exhibition at the Tate Modern, Love Fame Tragedy’s previous album Wherever I go, I Want To Leave garnered widespread support from the likes of NME, The Times, CLASH, Metro, Radio 1 and more.
