“Menacing isn’t it?” – Jack Saunders Indie Show, BBC Radio 1

“Another great Irish band” – BBC 6Music

“Wow that is quite a noise!” – Radio X

“Embracing absurdity and anarchy in equal measure, The Scratch’s refusal to box their sound into any easily-definable genre has resonated powerfully with a generation” – Hot Press

Today, The Scratch have released their highly-anticipated second studio album ‘Mind Yourself’ via Sony Music Ireland. To celebrate the release, the Dublin four-piece have created a short documentary to gives fans an insight into the creation of, and inspiration behind the album. Watch here.

Consisting of 9 songs, the album was produced by James Vincent McMorrow and puts the band at the forefront of Irish music. With their progressive singular sound, Mind Yourself takes the band in a new direction and showcases their ability to turn the Irish trad scene on its head by fusing genres from traditional folk melodies to metal riffs.

Predominantly recorded in Louth’s Black Mountain studio, Mind Yourself opens with ‘Banshee’, a track that will grab the attention of listeners from the outset before moving into lead single from the album ‘Cheeky Bastard’.

Tracks such as ‘Hole In The Ground’ displays the band’s powerful harmonies, while Trom I (The Harrowing Sun) is full of electric guitar riffs and is an example of the band pouring their hearts and souls out to create something original and new. ‘Shoes’ captivates the band’s vulnerability and showcases a softer side to the four-piece, as does previous single ‘Trom II (A Slip In The Wind)’.

‘Blaggard’, which has received praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 and Kerrang!, raises the tempo towards the end of the record before closing with two new songs ‘Cold Eye’ and ‘Pocket Full of Roses’.

Speaking about the album, the band says “We’ve done it baby. What a turn-up for the books. Ye can’t teach an old dog new tricks and a tuna never had a son, but you can always clear the pipes with a few clean boots to the cool. Good luck and mind yourselves.”

The album is available on limited edition etched coloured vinyl, standard black vinyl, CD and digital and to celebrate the release, the band play two release events at London’s Signature Brew brewery and Kingston’s Pryzm in association with Banquet Records.

The Scratch have kicked-off their Irish, UK and EU headline tour, with the band performing to sold-out venues across the country, including two nights at Dublin’s Vicar Street. For more information visit HERE
