THE OOZES RELEASE BRAND NEW SINGLE STRAP! – LISTENHERE
ALSO GEAR UP TO PLAY A SOLD OUT ELECTRIC PICNIC IN IRELAND ON 2ND SEPTEMBER!
Queer-punk legends The Oozes today release their fast-paced thumping new single, STRAP! The track is a celebration of desire within the queer community, which positively and playfully explores queer sex and the use of sex toys. Listen here. The band will also be revealing a lyric video later today, so keep your eyes on their socials…
Frontman Tom Gilbert who wrote the lyrics for STRAP!, wants to encourage open conversation around sexual empowerment, without taking it too seriously. He has explained, “Pleasure can be an uncomfortable topic for some, and The Oozes hope that STRAP! challenges societal expectations around being queer and sexual – pushing back against suppression of those desires and experiences.”
2023 has so far seen The Oozes release two singles, including DBSAC, which wasproduced by punk/folk singer-songwriter Frank Turner. It has racked up 300k+ combined streams, and was picked as BBC Radio 1’s Future Flavour upon release. The London-based quartet also released their single Ready, more recently. It looks at the coming out experience of a trans child to unsupportive parents. It questions the idea of the unconditional love parents claim to give until their child goes against their parents’ ideas of who their child should be.
The Oozes have recently been added to the SOLD OUT Electric Picnic line up in Ireland, on Saturday 2nd September! They will play The Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow circus tent, in Fishtown. This year has also seen the quartet play two raucous shows at The Great Festival in Brighton, and also wrap The Eyesore Tour, on which they did their best to hit anywhere and everywhere covering a whopping 42 dates, across the UK and Ireland.
