“…there isn’t a track on the album that doesn’t stir something up from deep within.
Rife with words that tug at the heart and sounds that tear at the flesh, Mellow War is a potent release.”

South Carolina’s rising talent Taylor McCall has released his new album Mellow War, which is out now via Black Powder Soul Records/Thirty Tigers. You can listen and order the album HERE. To coincide with the release he has also shared a new video for the track ‘Rolling Stoned Again’.

Mellow War is McCall’s second album following his highly acclaimed debut Black Powder Soul in 2021. It was produced by McCall and Sean McConnell (Michael Franti and Wade Bowen) and is largely inspired by McCall’s late grandfather who also features on the album cover as a young man in Vietnam.McCall shares, “Mellow War pays homage to my late grandpa. The album cover is him in Vietnam. These are songs that are sort of letters to home that I imagined he might have sent. My grandpa was a life inspiration for me; it was bigger than just music. The songs are a tribute to everything he stood for and everything he taught me.”

The album also features the swampy ‘Tide Of Love’, the tender ‘Rest On Easy’, which is a tribute to those we’ve lost, and the title track ‘Mellow War’, which was the original work that set the tone for the new album and perfectly demonstrates McCall’s spellbinding and unique mix of blues-fuelled Americana. Watch the video McCall directed for it here.

After his triumphant UK debut supporting Robert Plant presents Saving Grace in November, McCall has again been confirmed as a special guest on the forthcoming run of dates in March, which will see McCall play at London’s Palladium on March 17th.. Tickets are available here.

McCall has built a strong fanbase since discovering his voice in his late teens and at age 17, the songs that he put together for his debut EPs were testament to his talent as both musician and songwriter: with ‘Jericho Rose’, ‘Quartermaster’, ‘Waccamaw Drive’, ‘The Devil Wants To Dance Again’, being captivating tracks garnering his 26 million plays to date.

In the years since, the South Carolina native and avid outdoorsman and fisherman has crafted a sound that effortless matches his unique musicianship with his powerful and resonating voice.  Mellow War serves a testament to this, and that McCall possess a depth of character that transcends his age and a soul beyond his years.
