“Spider is a punk rock juggernaut.” – Jersey Beat

“LA classic punk rock with an unruly hardcore tinge” – Outburn

“Rocket-fueled sonics careen with wild abandon” – The Big Takeover

Today, fiercely independent DIY Long Beach, California, punk collective Spider announce their highly anticipated next single “Tripwire.”

Of their recent studio experience, the band says “These are introspective snapshots of self-reflection caught in spacetime, vignettes wrapped in metaphors”.

From a lyrical standpoint. The words are steeped in existentialism. From a musical POV the sonic message is visceral. Together Spider taps into the rage of the human condition of being born into a world we were never asked to be in. The songs are about navigating the paradox of life.

The new single is part of a collection of stories projected for the listener. Capturing the fury of life and set to a rock-and-rollercoaster backdrop of buzzing electric guitars, distorted fuzz pounding bass and primal, alchemy-seeking drums.

“Tripwire” is due for a May 26th release on all digital streaming platforms via CPYRT CNTRL RCRDS (pronounced Copyright Control Records), co-produced by the band and former Agent Orange member Dave Klein. This is Spider’s first new music since their Energy Gone Wrong (EP) released in 2019.

As they forge their path, the band’s relentless drive thrives in a DIY environment.

Spider has no manager, no booking agent, no record label, no publicist, no music publisher, the band maintains the “do it yourself” tradition of punk stalwarts before them, Spider’s sense of self-reliance and self-agency has enabled them to share the stage with heavy hitters such as DescendentsThe BronxGBHPennywiseThe Hives and Circle Jerks and have played some of the biggest music festivals around the world including Riot Fest (US), Punk Rock Bowling Festival (US), It’s Not Dead Fest (US), Rebellion Festival (UK), Back To Future Festival (Germany), Music Tastes Good Festival (US), Punk Rock Holiday Festival (Slovenia), Brakrock Festival (Belgium), Bay Fest (Italy), and The Bash Festival (US).

Highlighting their collective ear for high energy music, Spider’s sound has also resonated with music supervisors leading to secured placements in tv “Letterkenny” (hulu) and actions sports films such as “Powell-Peralta Skateboard Stories Presents: Bucky Lasek” and “All In Lifestyles.”

Reviewing a recent live show – The Punk Site reported the performance was “a relentless barrage of skilled sonic power that rides the thin line between chaos and order.”

This sentiment is echoed by these parting words from Spider “we thrive in a live environment, we live to perform and make sure whoever comes to a show, feels like it’s time well spent.”

Don’t miss Spider at Punk Rock Bowling May 29th (Fremont Country Club) with TSOLPunk Rock Karaoke and Infirmities.
