“Uplifting anthems are their prolific stock in trade, hence why they’ve attracted an ever-growing army of devotees.” – The Scotsman

“Their exuberant songs, influenced by everyone from The La’s, Arctic Monkeys and Sam Fender to The Streets, Fleetwood Mac and MGMT, provide an escape from the gloom and the hope for better times to come.” – The Courier

Scotland’s next wave indie-rock stars Shambolics held nothing back when announcing the February 16th release date of their debut album ‘Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams’. It’s lead single ‘Never Be Mine’ became an instant streaming hit with adds to Apple Music’s New In Rock and New in Alternative in the UK playlists, as well as Deezer’s Rock Britannia. Their live show continued to go from strength-to-strength, with a rammed intimate Glasgow headline show at King Tut’s and their current tour as special guests to Little Man Tate. They even had some pre-order hype from ‘Still Game’ and ‘Chewin’ The Fat’ actor Ford Kiernan

Now that Shambolics have your attention, they’re gonna keep it. Today the Fife five-piece share their aptly-titled new single ‘Attention’ which features backing vocals from the legendary Kyle Falconer of The View. It’s a song which unites two of the band’s most striking strengths to dazzling effect: sizzling, soaring hooks delivered with their rambunctious live energy, but given a sleek synth-pop edge courtesy of keyboardist Scott ‘Paws’ Williamson. As with the rest of the upcoming album, attention was produced by Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon).

Vocalist/guitarist Darren Forbes says, “Kyle was of course huge in Scotland when we were growing up – we used to idolise him, so working with him was a dream come true. He has such a great head for melody, and we learned a lot about that from him. The reason he’s so good is that he’s constantly playing, constantly singing, constantly writing songs and that was a lesson for us. Instead of writing in between live gigs, we know we need to be writing all the time when we can to become that good.”

Kyle Falconer adds, “We wrote this in Spain and it was a very natural flow. It reminded me of how the early View songs used to happen… just beers and smiles.”

The ‘Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams’ album is available to pre-order HERE or pre-save HERE. The band’s official store offers exclusive products including a signed red-and-black marbled vinyl, ned red-coloured CD and cassette plus album bundles.

‘Dreams, Schemes & Young Teams’ caps the first step in the rise of Shambolics. Formed by co-frontmen Darren Forbes and Lewis McDonald, the band provided a positive alternative to the teen years of hanging around the streets and drinking in the park in Kirkcaldy, and things soon took off when they were completed by Scott ‘Paws’ Williamson (keys/vocals), Ben Sharp (bass) and Robert Land (drums). They soon became local heroes due to their infamous gigs in PJ Molly’s in Dunfermline, before the support of Alan McGee (and let’s face it – OasisPrimal ScreamTeenage Fanclub – who has a better ear for a band?) helped guide them to a broader audience. Every headline tour takes them to bigger venues in Glasgow, ticking off King Tut’sThe Garage and SWG3 on the way – and next time around will surely push them up another level. They’ve also hit festivals including the Isle of Wight, TRNSMT, Truck and Y NOT?, as earned airplay at 6 Music, Radio X and Amazing Radio.

Currently halfway through a tour with Little Man Tate, Shambolics will reunite with Kyle Falconer when they play two shows as guests to The View in December. Their upcoming gigs are:
