NEW ALBUM ‘THE PLACE WE USED TO MEET’ IS OUT OCTOBER 13TH
PRE-ORDER / PRE-SAVE HERE

It’s the best of times to be Scouting For Girls. In recent weeks, the crowd-pleasing indie-pop trio have been adding new favourites to their rich back catalogue – the spiky pop-punk of ‘Missing Part’ and the nostalgia title track to their upcoming album ‘The Place We Used To Meet’ – as well as darting across the country to bring the festival fun factor to the Isle of WightStandon CallingKendal CallingCamp Bestival and more. Their current resurgence continues unabated as they now share the new single ‘Glow’ ahead of the October 13th release of ‘The Place We Used To Meet’. Listen HERE.

‘Glow’ kicks off the album with equal parts reflection and pure unadulterated joy as Roy Stride sings, “I knew on the night I met you / When we kissed I could taste forever.” Some love stories are fleeting – a moment of magic that was never going to last – but this tale is one of a romance that stretches from youth and deep into adulthood, with no sign of ever fading. The music is just as uplifting, marrying the strident melodies and big hooks of the band’s biggest hits with an earworm synth motif that’s in tune with the modern pop landscape.

Roy says, I thought ‘Glow’ was special the moment I wrote it, but it was only when everyone else around the band got excited that I really started to believe it. It’s the best song we’ve released since ‘This Ain’t a Love song’ I can’t wait for people to hear it!”

‘Glow’ is effectively the first chapter to a story that continues with ‘Missing Part’. Continuing that flying start, the first half of‘The Place Where We Used To Meet’ feels like a fresh ‘best of’ album before deeper cuts emerge in the second half, its songs – sometimes more reflective, sometimes more sombre – emerging interlinked in a continuous suite of music. The album is available to pre-save or pre-order HERE.

Completed by Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard, Scouting For Girls’ early anthems such as ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ and ‘Heartbeat’ set them on a path to phenomenal success which included four Top 10 singles, four Top 10 albums, 2 million sales and more than a billion streams – plus four BRIT Awards and an Ivor Novello.

They still remained a huge draw in the live arena until Covid put touring on hold – their favourite part of being a band. Their return was the biggest party imaginable… until it wasn’t. As the months passed, Roy’s life unravelled into  alcoholism, anxiety and panic attacks. He realised he had to make a change and on New Year’s Eve of 2021 he sank his final drink before dedicating the start of 2022 to recovery. Newly sober, he was invigorated by all things music and started writing new songs at a rapid pace, not only for Scouting For Girls but also with co-writes such as Jax Jones and Calum Scott’s Silver-certifiedTop 20 hit ‘Whistle’.

Later in 2022, they completed a celebratory ‘best of’ tour, while this year has also seen them play arena dates as guests to Olly Murs. Next are more festivals including Hardwick Live and Bear Grylls’ Gone Wild as well as further shows with Olly Murs. In November they will start a tour in support of the new album which is already selling out, with remaining tickets available HERE. Their first gigs of 2024 are now marked on the calendar, with arena dates in Belfast and Dublin as special guests to Rick Astley.
