It’s Friday Morning and time for the weekend to fully start!
Up first are Red Method and its an incredible welcome back to the grounds of Bloodstock as they move up from the Sophie Lancaster Stage which they played 3 years ago and onto the Main Stage to open the day. Formed from the ashes of Meta-Stasis, Ted Maul and The Defiled, the group of six have been making waves the past few years and working hard writing and touring. Despite the heat already making a strong presence, the arena is full of fans ready to be woken up with their energetic performance. As the pits open up, Frontman Jeremey Gomez comes down from the stage and up close with the audience against the barrier bridging that gap between the band on stage and the fans. As the set continues, the crowd grows and beach balls are seen bouncing over the audience before Gomez gives a mid-set sermon. On stage, the band are really throwing their all into the performance which is incredible for so early in the day. As opening bands go, Red Method was an excellent way to get you ready for the day!

After a short change over, Heart Of A Coward takes to the stage to keep the day moving along. Heart Of A Coward have come a long way since their inception in 2009, with 4 studio albums under their belt and admiration from the Metal community. Storming onto the stage, the band takes control of the crowd and it’s not long before the circle pits open up. The strong and heavy beats are accompanied by Kaan Tasan’s clear vocal power which transitions from heavy screaming to higher melodies. Tasan dominates the stage as he commands the crowd asking them to open pits and raise their hands which they do with no hesitation. Midway through the set, in tradition, he even gets the crowd to link arms and head bang in sync as he keeps the energy of the crowd moving. At the very end, there’s even som audience participation as the crowd joins in shouting the lyrics, it’s clear that Tasan is a born frontman and the band perfectly back him up in everyway. The crowd are clearly enjoying the morning set and by now are getting well into the groove of the day and ready for more music.

As sun reigns high in the sky and the festival fans seek shade and cover from the elements, a crowd is still gathering around the main stage to catch the next band on the line up, Sorcerer. This is a band that proves that its never too late to try again having released their first demo back in 1989, it wasn’t until they reformed in 2010 for a one off reunion show at The Hammer Of Doom festival. Following the success of this show, the band decided to release a full length album and have been making waves ever since. Taking the stage with their more melodic metal is a nice change and variety to the line up so far. The heavy beats can be felt throughout the arena and the crowd grows as they come to see the band providing those beats and the melodic riffs. Listening to them you can clearly hear the bands influences from Rainbow to Black Sabbath and there is a clear likeness of Anders Engbergs voice to that of Geoff Tate in those early Queensryche days. The band are incredibly tight as they perform today and definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already!
