Nu-punk band Cherie Amour release captivating single and video “Sin City”

Today, Baltimore-based quartet Cherie Amour released their new single and video “Sin City” via Equal Vision Records. A follow up to their acclaimed 2021 debut EP Internal Discussions, the band is back flexing their signature “nu-punk” sound, expertly combining elements of pop-punk, R&B, hip-hop, and metal. Produced by Alan Day (Four Year Strong), the track stands out with huge, radio friendly production juxtaposed against plenty of hard hitting moments. Gritty electronic elements and genre-defying breakdowns highlight the bands unique ability to craft catchy music from disparate influences. While “Sin City” will appeal to a wide range of alternative music lovers, it is anything but formulaic – instead, it serves as a reminder that Cherie Amour has perfected a sound totally their own. Speaking on the inspiration behind their latest track, vocalist Trey Miller has this to say:

“‘Sin City’ is a song we wrote in the studio last summer about 4 days before I moved to Las Vegas (hence the title of the song). Lyrically, the song is about the uncertainty I felt in my life at the time regarding my career and my relationships. At the time the song was written, we hadn’t gone on a tour yet but I mentioned ‘Finding myself on tour’ and the song sort of ended up being a manifestation of what our lives have become since then.”

Cherie Amour are both an established act and a new band. Its members–vocalist Trey Miller, guitarists Casey Reid and Brendan Willis and drummer Ronnie Sherman–had been playing together as One Life To Lead, but felt that name didn’t suit their evolving musical style. As a result, they renamed themselves Cherie Amour, and it’s with this moniker that the self-styled nu-punk outfit have truly found their sound. The four-piece have done so by mixing together a killer blend of genres that, on paper, make for odd bedfellows, but in the band’s capable hands sound like they’re meant to be together. “It was amongst our goals to not try to prescribe to a certain genre,” says Allen. “We wanted it to be all-encompassing so that you can get out of it what you want and need, and we felt that nu-punk was the best way to describe that simply.”Latest single “Sin City” is the follow up to their 2021 debut EP Internal Discussions, both produced by Alan Day (Four Year Strong) and released through Equal Vision Records.
