Night Nail is a Berlin-based darkwave group originally formed in Los Angeles and fronted by Brandon Robert. ‘Early Demons And Demos (10th Anniversary Edition)’ celebrates a decade since the band was founded and is a mixture of early demos and the group’s very first studio EP remixed by Pete Burns of the group Kill Shelter.
Reaching deep into the twisted well of their past history, a video for the song ‘Nowhere (Kill Shelter Remix)’, has been made available to promote the collection. Initially released on a self-titled EP that featured Robert (vocals/guitar), James Hendrix (bass), Justin Deactivere (synth), Justin Lomery (guitar/backing vocals) and Bryan Panzeri (drums), it showcased their youthful raw energy and made an initial mark on the local scene.
However, never satisfied with its original recording and with his new Europe-based line-up (including Justin Deactivere and Ilija Gavrilenko) in place, a remaster and rework of the original song by Pete Burns (Kill Shelter), sees it finally fully realised. “Some songs take longer than others to finish, even ten years might be needed, if your resources are limited when you first start out,” explains Robert.
‘Early Demons And Demos’ prefaces ‘Fates Remade’, an upcoming remix project made in collaboration with eleven other artists that revisits the group’s third album, ‘Fates Explained’ (2023), to be issued in September on Metropolis Records.
Night Nail has toured in both the US and Europe, performing at festivals that include Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Autumn Moon and Owls ’n’ Bats. They have recently announced three German shows that include a Berlin date at the Urban Spree venue on 15th September as guests of labelmates Then Comes Silence, with festival appearances either side at Gotenklang (Rostock) on 17th August and Feel The Darkness Fest (Oldenburg) on 9th November.
