If you like your February 14th awash with potent breakdowns and riveting riffs, look know further than East Coast post-hardcore crew Lives Lost. The quintet have dropped a heavy, anti-Valentine’s Day cover of Alec Benjamin’s hit single “Let Me Down Slowly”. Watch the new music video HERE. Opening up on the song choice, lead vocalist Tanis Pellegrini shares: “Ghost Killer Entertainment initially approached us to be on their Valentine’s Day compilation, ‘Covers For the Broken Hearted’ and suggested “Let Me Down Slowly” by Alec Benjamin would be perfect for my voice and the band’s style. Once we got hold of the track and rewrote it part by part, it became our favorite cover to date.” Pellegrini continues: “We recorded it with long time collaborator and friend Jeff McKinnon who is a bit of an unsung hero in the music industry in Pennsylvania right now. He has hands down the best mixes coming out of the area and it’s not even close. Formed in 2020 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, Lives Lost exude an alluring hybrid of driving hard rock and emotive post-hardcore. Nodding to the likes of Silverstein, Caskets and The Used, the young quartet explore love, loss and the human experience, with social issues and the growing pains of life at the forefront of their lyrical output. Debut EP, 2023’s A Portrait of Loss, conceptualized these themes, taking listeners on a journey through the state of grieving, after the lead character loses a loved one. New single “Champagne” kicked of a new year and a fresh release cycle for the Northeast crew. The accomplished instrumental interplay marries crushing percussion and riveting riffs, with a buoyant parlay of heavy and melodic that nods to some of the band’s most heralded contemporaries.
