KELLINDO RELEASES NEW MIX VERSION OF HIS SONG “SUGAR” WITH AN ACCOMPANYING VIDEO ON MARCH 3rd

Kellindo Parker aka Kellindo releases a new mix version of his song “Sugar” with an accompanying video. Both song and video feature Grammy award-winning violinist Alex Weill (Eminem, Jay Z, Alicia Keys, Pharrell). Out on March 3 via Creative Entertainment Network/The Orchard, a division of Sony Music. When asked what prompted a new mix of the song Kellindo said, “I felt the original version was missing something, but couldn’t put my finger on it. Until I arrived on the set in England for the music video. I heard Alex Weill play a violin part that she came up with. I was blown away with the simplistic beauty it brought to the song! So, I immediately decided the new violin part needed to be added and the song therefore, Sugar had to be re-released”.

“The “Sugar” music video was shot in England at Gunhill Studios. The video concept was created by Nange Mangro and Mark Maxwell. It takes place somewhere in the future in a nightclub where Nange is hypnotized by the music of the “Kellindo” band performing on a psychedelic stage. The band members are Alex Weill featured on violin, Natalia Siragusa on bass, and De’Arcus Curry holding it down on the drums,” says Kellindo.

Kellindo released his debut solo single, “When Flowers Could Dance” in 2018, and since then his songs have garnered much attention and large streaming numbers across multiple platforms. “Sugar” reaffirms Kellindo’s talents as an artist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Delivering a blend of rock, soul, and funk, he continues his journey outside the genre-ruled box. Kellindo shares, “I wrote “Sugar” to honor women and girls. It’s meant as a metaphorical reminder to men and boys to always treat women and girls with respect”.

Born from a gifted bloodline that includes James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic band members Melvin and Maceo Parker, and the first black law professor at Columbia University, his father, Kellis Parker, Kellindo was just eight years old when he first picked up guitar. It’s no surprise that he went on to study jazz guitar as well as classical and jazz music history at the Manhattan School of Music.

As word started to spread about the up-and-coming guitarist, he joined funk and soul jazz saxophonist uncle Maceo Parker as his lead guitarist on a world tour. Upon his return, he started working with Grammy-nominated artist Janelle Monae and has not looked back.  Originally brought on to be her lead guitarist, he also became a collaborator, co-arranger, and co-writer on many of Monae’s critically acclaimed releases. Having shared the stage opening & performing with artists such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, No Doubt, and Bruno Mars to name a few, Kellindo is primed and ready to bring the masses his own distinctive brand of soul-inflected rock ’n’ roll.
