GUTLOCKER WIPE THE SLATE CLEAN IN FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM ‘TO BE ALIVE’ |
What does it mean to be alive? We have all faced hardships in life and deal with the troubles that have been thrown at us in our own way. GUTLOCKER have chosen to wear their hearts on their sleeve and reveal all in their most personal release to date. ‘To Be Alive’ is Gutlocker’s first full length album and is the first time we have heard anything new from the band since the release of their four track EP ‘Cry Havoc’ in 2018. The band chose to record a full length album during the first lockdown in 2020 as they wanted to use their time to write something that’s different, bigger and better than anything that has been released previously. “During the time when we couldn’t do any shows, it was important to stay creative, better to use the time than to dwell on the inevitable.” To Be Alive is the band experimenting and finding their sound, they chose to work with prolific producer Lewis Johns in October of 2021 whose track record includes well known names such as Employed To Serve, Conjurer, Funeral For A Friend and much more. “Lewis was key to the production of the album; he came up with lots of good ideas and he makes everything sound bigger.” Craig McBrearty, the band’s vocalist has said “this album has given me the chance to work out some of the events of the past 18 months, I am very thankful to my band for supporting me in doing this.” With a glimmer of hope and what seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, GUTLOCKER are armed with a new album and they have set their sights on getting their music heard and are looking to connect with their audience on a more personal level.
