Known for their compelling blend of rock and a string of hits that have charted across Europe, Scottish riff merchants GUN have consistently been a force in the music industry, boasting 3 UK top 20 albums, 8 UK top 40 singles, and extensive tours, including memorable performances with The Rolling Stones.

As their widely praised new album Hombres hits stores today, GUN have shared a brand new live video, for uplifting track “You Are What I Need.”

Vocalist Dante Gizzi explains, “’You Are What I Need’ is a song about the comfort we get in those who stand by us. They’re the pillars of support, the listening ears, and the steady hands that guide us through life’s storms. Whether it’s family, friends, or mentors, their unwavering presence reminds us that we’re not alone. They offer empathy, encouragement, and sometimes tough love, showing us that strength lies in vulnerability and that together, we can weather any challenge.”

Next week’s challenge is the official album chart! Declared “some of their best songs since Gallus!” by Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris, Hombres is the first album of all new music from the group since 2017’s Favourite Pleasures, which entered the UK official album chart at #16.

“Hombres sounds like a band remembering where they buried the treasure… Hombres sparkles.” – Classic Rock

“It’s anthemic hard rock full of sing-along choruses and infectious guitar riffs; it’s an all-round kick-ass Rock and Roll album that screams “Crank me up!” from the get go!” – Fireworks

“Gun always deliver but Hombres is some of their best stuff in years.” – Metal Hammer

“…These guys have been producing high-quality music in one form or another for many years. This collection is highly enjoyable.” – Rock Candy

“It’s a brilliant record. Comfortably their best for three decades.” – Maximum Volume Music

“It’s a bit early for album of the year nominations, but this one will certainly be in the running for yours truly’s top spot. Hombres is packed with high-quality classic rock songs throughout.” – All About The Rock

“An album filled with groove, an album filled with body-shakers, and an album that will have widespread appeal. GUN keep things fun and interesting right up to the very end.” – Games, Brains, and a Headbangin’ Life

“Gun should be justifiably proud of Hombres and they’ve arguably never sounded better. It rocks, it rolls, and it makes you feel glad to be alive. A real celebration and a genuine contender for Album Of The Year, Gun have absolutely smashed it.” – Metal Talk

ABOUT GUN

Formed in Scotland by guitarist Giuliano “Jools” Gizzi, GUN have achieved 3 UK Top 20 albums and 8 UK Top 40 singles over their lauded career. GUN has toured extensively over the years, criss-crossing the globe with The Rolling Stones, Black Star Riders, The Cult, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bon Jovi, and more, not to mention a slew of memorable festival sets at everything from Steelhouse to Download to Wacken. 2024 looks set to rack up even more miles in fine fashion.

The rock ruffians latest release was 2022’s collection of acoustic reworkings, The Calton Songs, which delighted fans and brought further chart success, clocking in at #2 on the Scottish album chart, #6 on the UK indie chart, and #13 on the UK physical albums chart. GUN also received two awards in November 2022; the band was honoured with the Rock Legend award at Hard Rock Hell in Great Yarmouth and the Hard Rock Café Legends award at the Scottish Music Awards, the flagship event for the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity. Now, in April 2024, the much loved Scottish group share perhaps their finest collection of work yet, with new album Hombres.

2024 also marks the 30th anniversary of GUN’s silver-certified, third album Swagger, which stormed into the official UK album chart at #5 and spawned 4 UK Top 40 singles including smash-hit cover “Word Up” (#8), “Don’t Say It’s Over” (#19), “The Only One” (#29), and “Something Worthwhile” (#39). Their boisterous version of Cameo’s “Word Up” also earnt the group their first MTV Europe Music Award.
