LONDON, U.K. – (27 June, 2023) – Multi-award-winning Australian artist, Fanny Lumsden made a triumphant UK debut alongside her band, the Prawn Stars, this past weekend at Glastonbury Festival.

In addition to her performance at Glastonbury, Fanny will be headlining three shows in Ireland this week – June 28th in Kinsale (sold out), June 29th in Ballydehob and June 30th in Clonakilty – and a sold-out show in London (July 6th). Limited tickets are available here.

Lumsden, who played the Field of Avalon Stage on Friday afternoon (23/6), said of the festival and performance: “I cannot believe that our first ever gig in the UK was to a full Avalon Stage at Glastonbury. The Audience was so amazing and sang along and did all the designated dance moves and brought a lot of joy – it was an incredible experience. We are really excited to be here and sharing our songs and stories all the way from Australia, with these beautiful audiences and can’t wait to do more!”

Fanny’s highly anticipated fourth studio album Hey Dawn is set to drop on August 4th. The latest preview of the album, ‘When I Die’, released on May 31st, followed ‘Millionaire’ and the album’s title track, ‘Hey Dawn’.

The album is a rich character study, with the singer-songwriter reflecting on the stories that have shaped her and those around her. It’s also a more sonically diverse outing than Lumsden’s previous records, incorporating elements such as guitar-based indie-pop into her trademark world of gorgeously crafted, emotionally rich acoustic songwriting.

“I wanted it to feel good, I wanted to have fun,” she smiles. “I didn’t want to think too hard about it – I just wanted to feel.”

Hey Dawn is, in short, Lumsden’s most complete offering to date. Having focused inward lyrically on Fallow, Lumsden was once again interested in telling detail-rich stories – both her own, and other people’s. In particular, she found herself drawn to her childhood, “when obviously I felt no weight of anything”.

“I think that might have been a reaction to the last few years, which were heavy for everyone,” she offers.

The tour continues on Weds, June 28:

June 28 – Kinsale, IE – Prims Book Shop (SOLD OUT)
June 29 – Ballydehob, IE – Levis Corner Hose
June 30 – Clonakilty, IE – De Barras
July 6 – London, UK – Green Note (SOLD OUT)
