Cindy-Louise Releases Commanding New Single And Lyric Video ‘Can’t Own Me’

Independent artist Cindy-Louise makes a commanding return with her new Single and Lyric Video ‘Can’t Own Me’. The South African-born singer-songwriter (now residing in The Netherlands) is shaping things up, complementing her preceding Alternative-Pop repertoire with this poised Rock song, starting “this year I will be focussing on Rock, so be ready as it’s going to be a wild ride!”

Cindy-Louise adds that “This song is emotional for me, but also fun. Whilst I am letting the listener into the difficult and heart wrenching part of my life, it also has a Western vibe with a Rock kick. It’s all about the attitude, and I’m giving you plenty of it.

I wrote it in ire but with some humour, so when you hear the hum in the beginning, all I can think about is how I shake my head in disbelief … just because I work for you, does not mean that you I am a slave, and I won’t obey your every command. I have a voice which needs to be heard. I am tired of the fake niceness in this world, just be straight with me about how you feel.

The verse ‘think you’re so clever, think I’m so sweet’ is especially influential, because although I may be sweet and more than capable, does not mean you can walk all over me or take advantage of me. The verse ‘don’t bother coming back to me’ is totally my personality, as I can tolerate a lot and I am an understanding person, but once you’ve crossed that line where you have upset me and taken advantage of me, you become noting to me.”

‘Can’t Own Me’ available on all streaming platforms 24 March

Song Lyrics

I see it in your eyes

Staring at me from across the room

I’m not blind

And I know that you hate me

Because you can’t control me

Better luck next time

Walking around the room

Looking so Goddamn innocent

But I know you and you’re about to know me too

You can’t own me

And you don’t know me yet

I make my own rules and live my own life

I’m sick of control

And I’ll tell you this one last time

You can’t own me

Now you may think that I’m fake

And that I play with my emotions

Well that’s not true

I speak my own mind

And once you’ve crossed that line

You’re dead to me

Don’t bother coming back to me

Think you’re so clever

Think you’re so sweet

You ain’t seen nothing yet

You can’t own me
