New York, NY – 2 February 2024 – Today, Australian alt-rock band Bones and Jones release their new EP In Blue – stream it via your preferred DSP HERE! The project arrives ahead of the band’s shows at SXSW 2024, marking their first appearance in the US this year. During their showcases, Bones and Jones will play songs from In Blue, including the Strokes-reminiscent “Need It” (listen HERE) and the melancholy, heartfelt “Simple Passion” (listen HERE), both of which are singles that were released at the end of last year. Additionally, the band will debut new tracks such as the romantic, soothing “Every Morning” and vibrant “In Ya Nature.” On In Blue, Bones and Jones lean into the indie rock facet of their sound following the fusion of folk and garage heard in their previous work. After first experimenting with drum machines and synths for the first time during the creation of “In Ya Nature,” the band decided to trade their signature slide guitar for synth-tinged alt-rock, thus beginning a new era for the band that they are thrilled to share with old and new fans alike. |
Formed during high school in the Victorian town Geelong and now based out of an old apple orchard on the Victorian surf coast/Wathaurong Country, Bones and Jones draw inspiration from the landscape that surrounds them as well as their decade-long friendships within the band. This background has resulted in a sound that blends country-tinged vintage rock with a contemporary energy, which has caught the attention of Rolling Stone, NME, The Guardian, and Triple J. Additionally, the band’s eclectic style has gained prestigious recognition as their second album Ginger Gold (Farm Singles) was nominated for the Australian Music Prize and Victorian Music Awards. With an impressive track record of opening for widely-celebrated bands including King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Angel Olsen, Crumb, Twin Peaks, Mdou Moctar, The Murlocs, The Nude Party, and Drugdealer, Bones and Jones are currently taking their frenetic live show across their homeland of Australia opening for Melbourne trio The Grogans.
