AVAILABLE NOW, THE BRAND NEW ALBUM FROM MIKO MARKS: FEEL LIKE GOING HOME

Returning To London In January For UK Americana Week 2023

NASHVILLE, TN. / LONDON, UK. – (For Immediate Release) – Following the release of her latest project Feel Like Going Home via Redtone Records last month (14/10), Miko Marks has been confirmed as a performer at UK Americana Week 2023 in London (January 23-26). This marks her second appearance in the UK, having played at The Long Road festival earlier this year as part of Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country project.

Feel Like Going Home features 10 tracks co-written by Marks with Justin Phipps and Steve Wyreman, as well as one (‘Jubilee’) penned by Lee Bob + The Truth’s Lee Bob Watson. With elements of country, blues, gospel, roots and Americana, the new “genre- and industry-defying” (The Wall Street Journal) album features pre-released singles ‘Feel Like Going Home’, ‘One More Night’ and ‘Trouble’.

Listen to Feel Like Going Home here

Feel Like Going Home is an amalgamation of where Marks has been and where she is going. What she has learned and what she wants to teach. It’s an innermost look at the ebb and flow of her past, present and future. It’s the stories she wants to tell but hasn’t been able to speak into existence ever before, with “vivid lyrics, emotive vocals and captivating musical accompaniment.” (Forbes). The distinctly individual album, containing profound messages of healing and restoration, has received critical acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone and NPR, who referred to Marks as “a supple, charismatic roots artist, and a hero to many musical heirs”.

“Musically and lyrically it’s what the title says, a journey back to my roots,” explains Marks, who views Feel Like Going Home as the best work she’s done to date, despite her longstanding history of recording music. “I spent my early career trying to fit into a very specific and limited image and sound within the country music genre. I love country music and always will, but I was raised on so much more, and it’s all in me waiting and wanting to come out. I just want to make the music that is true and honest from within my soul. To me it’s a blend of everything I carry. It’s country, it’s blues, it’s rock n roll, it’s gospel and soul.”

Marks also made her Grand Ole Opry debut on the night of her album release, October 14th, 2022, after being surprised with the news by friend and fellow artist, Rissi Palmer.

    ABOUT MIKO MARKS:
Finding freedom through music is something that multi-genre singer-songwriter Miko Marks knows all too well. But it’s more than just freedom. It’s liberation. Deliverance. After living what seems to be multiple lives over, Marks has finally come into the life she was born to live. And she’s more than ready to live it to the fullest – one of truth, authenticity, vulnerability, joy and honesty.

After releasing her critically-acclaimed album, Our Country (via Redtone Records) in March 2021, the Michigan-born artist dove head first into an industry that previously never fully embraced her. She closed out 2021 with her EP release, Race Records, which shined a light on the arbitrary divisions forced upon artists and audiences in the early days of music marketing in the 1940s. In January of this year, Marks was named to CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2022 and by April, she stood alongside five other artists and managers chosen to participate in the inaugural Equal Access Development Program, a program designed by mtheory and CMT to foster and support marginalised communities underrepresented in the genre of country music. Now more than ever, the change needed is beginning to come to fruition; a change Marks feared she wouldn’t bear witness to in her existence: “I get emotional around it, because I didn’t think I would see any of this in my lifetime,” Marks says. Her latest release, Feel Like Going Home was released on October 14th, 2022 and is available to stream/download worldwide now.
