November 10, 2023 – Australian indie-rock trio Last Dinosaurs are known for crafting engaging, high-energy songs. Today, they take their anthemic choruses and buzzing guitar riffs to the stratosphere with their seven-song release RYU. In the year 3023, The Dinos envision a universe where music can still make a difference on an inter-galactic level. With the Sean Caskey-penned songs, the band aimed to create the music that would bring hope to dystopian not-so-distant future fraught with apocalyptic events. Along with crafting the mythos of RYU, Last Dinosaurs are excited to share a companion piece comic book further illustrating the sci-fi storyline and further immersing fans and listeners into their world.
Sean Caskey further elaborates on RYU’s concept: “The year is 3023. The artificial intelligence revolution has been fought, won, and lost. The earth is blanketed with debris from previous civilizations’ satellites and space junk. The most powerful AI satellite runs critically low in battery, and in its dying months, reprograms its protocols. It now functions as an ancient style radio station, generating music based on algorithms it learnt from the previous civilization. RYU is a collection of transmissions intercepted from this satellite.”
Since their 2022 LP, From Mexico With Love, Last Dinosaurs have basked in the critical acclaim from Rolling Stone Australia, NME, FLOOD, FLAUNT, and Under the Radar, while headlining around the world to bigger rooms and even more ravenous crowds. After concluding their North American co-headlining tour alongside Vacations, dubbed ‘TOURZILLA,’ at Lunario in Mexico City, the Dinos are proud to announce new dates in Southeast Asia and Japan.
