THE TITLE TRACK IS OUT NOW – LISTEN HERE

Amy Macdonald will release the new EP ‘Don’t Tell Me That It’s Over’ on July 8th. A new collection of fan favourites which have been reimagined with the energy of her live performances in mind, the EP is previewed with today’s release of its title track. The EP is released ahead of a major summer of touring, which will see Amy add to the 3.3 million people she has so far performed to throughout her career. Pre-save the EP HERE.

The lead track ‘Don’t Tell Me That It’s Over’ shows how much Amy’s voice has matured since the original version was released in 2010, while the production, less intricate but far more raucous, allows its driving pop-rock melodies to take on a powerful new momentum. Originally considered a rockier progression from her folk roots when released as the first single from ‘A Curious Thing’, this latest update of ‘Don’t Tell Me That It’s Over’ finds the perfect balance between insistent melodies and belligerent bite.  Listen HERE.

Amy says, “Having played these songs live for years on the road, my band and I decided to reimagine the music a little bit, give them a new lease of life, and bring them into line musically with some of the tracks from my latest album. The result is a really exciting and modern vibe, and when we took them on the road and played them in front of an audience they got a great response, so we decided we wanted to put them down on record and share them with the world – hence this EP!”

The EP also features a fresh take on ‘Run’, from Amy’s all-conquering triple-Platinum #1 debut album ‘This Is The Life’.  The new version sees Amy raising the dramatic intensity from the original’s contrasting dynamics. ‘Slow Down’ is perhaps the biggest reinvention of the set, now feeling like a blend between Amy’s love of Springsteen’s heartland rock and the sparkling synth undercurrent of The War on Drugs‘Slow It Down’ was first released as the lead single from Amy’s 2012 #2 album ‘Life in A Beautiful Light’.

The three songs that Amy chose for the EP are long-term standout moments from her live show. They’re also firm favourites, having accumulated 75 million streams between them.

Amy’s 2020 album ‘The Human Demands’ won acclaim everywhere from The Times to The Line of Best Fit. It also reached the Top 10, a position that she has achieved with all five of her studio albums. Her first breakthrough came with the classic hit ‘This Is The Life’, which reached #1 in ten countries. In 2021, she was named as Woman of the Year at the Scottish Music Awards, as well as the Independent Venue Week’s official ambassador for Scotland, in recognition of her support for grassroots music venues.

Having recently played a sold-out and emotionally charged show at Glasgow’s 14,300 capacity OVO Hydro, Amy Macdonald will spend the summer playing a selection of European festivals, including the following UK events. She also headlines her own large capacity outdoor show at the Northern Meeting Park in Inverness. She will end 2022 by embarking upon the all-star Night of the Proms tour across Belgium and Germany.
