Texas-raised country artist Erin Kinsey has released her highly anticipated new single, ‘Strangers’, a raw, emotionally charged track that captures the surreal feeling of unexpectedly running into an ex for the first time. Out now on all streaming platforms, ‘Strangers’ marks a bold new chapter in Kinsey’s songwriting and musicianship.
Written during a trip back home to Texas, ‘Strangers’ was inspired by a real-life encounter. “I was back home in Texas going to my favorite Mexican restaurant, and I saw my ex-boyfriend for the first time since we broke up across the bar,” says Kinsey. “It was so weird to see him at a place that we both used to go to together [at] the time, but now we were showing up separately and truly had nothing to say to each other. I remember just trying to eat my meal with my family, but couldn’t get out of the back of my mind that he was sitting a few tables over.” The intimate lyrics and poignant storytelling showcase Kinsey’s signature vulnerability, while also debuting her first-ever guitar solo on a released track.
“I’ve played a ton of guitar parts in my live shows over the years,” Kinsey adds. “But haven’t had the right moment where it made sense to actually be the one to play on the record. This is my break out guitar solo debut!”
‘Strangers’ follows the release of Kinsey’s latest EP, Gettin’ Away with It, which features viral singles like ‘I Ain’t Crazy’ and ‘Matchmaker’. The title track’s music video, premiered via PEOPLE, offered fans a glimpse into Kinsey’s life on and off stage, performing with her band at a gas station outside of Nashville, surrounded by her family and even her dog.
As Kinsey continues to grow her global fanbase, she’s also hitting the road on her first-ever headlining tour, including festival appearances across Europe and her first UK headline show at O2 Academy Islington in London this August, which was upgraded due to high demand.
