New Low have been preparing in the shadows for the big reveal of their debut single ‘False Crown’. Out today with a music video that captures the potential of their live intensity, ‘False Crown’ is a visceral splicing of metal, hardcore and punk. Its catharsis is real as vocalist Neil Bailey comes out the gates with a deliciously heavy vocal, which gives way to soaring melodic chorus.
Bailey explains the track: “False Crown explores the relentless grip of imposter syndrome, following someone trapped in a war against their own mind. Despite every achievement, they’re haunted by the belief that they’re a fraud, waiting for the moment everyone discovers they never deserved their place. The song moves between suffocating self-doubt and explosive rage, capturing the exhaustion of fighting an enemy that wears your own face. Beneath the crushing riffs and raw aggression lies a desperate search for self-worth, ending on the realisation that the loudest accusations often come from within, not from the world around them.”
The UK quintet is formed from the ashes of previous endeavours. New Low’s members have all taken a brief hiatus from the live music scene & touring, and now they are now hungrier than ever. The group features previous members of Hildamay, Drones & Broken Tooth, with Bailey currently also fronting Kodama. Now New Low have delivered a powerhouse debut that marks a bold new chapter and statement of intent.
