Never Home “Set Sail Alone” on first new single in 5 years, announce ‘Beautiful Years’ EP
Every end is a new beginning…
Raleigh alternative rock crew Never Home are back with their first new music in 5 years. New single “Set Sail Alone” kicks off the band’s comeback cycle, with a single that charts equal parts emotive and infectious. “Set Sail Alone” is taken from Never Home’s upcoming EP Beautiful Years, set for release on January 17th, 2025.
The track addresses self-improvement & growth, with lead vocalist Nick Klock explaining:
“”Set Sail Alone” reflects a personal journey I’ve been on for years. There’s no grand story, just a simple truth: I am the only one who can truly help myself. I’ve often made half-hearted attempts, backing down when things got tough or frightening.”
Klock continues: “This song is about finally committing to my own healing—not just for me, but for the people I love. While using the ocean as a thematic device may not be groundbreaking, it’s been my refuge during difficult times and holds a lot of meaning for me. Its vastness serves as a reminder that many of my worries are smaller than I think.”
Charlotte, NC pop-punk/alternative rock quintet Never Home has re-emerged after a five-year hiatus. The band’s self-titled debut, released in 2018, earned the group acclaim across North Carolina and beyond, with its heartfelt and hook-heavy allure. Lead single “State Line” was praised as a “classic anthem” by Alternative Press, propelling the band to share stages with genre leading acts including Stand Atlantic, Broadside, and Trash Boat.
Following their single “Landslide” in 2019, the band faced personal hardships that led to their hiatus. Compounded by a global pandemic, the years apart brought challenges, introspection, and ultimately, resilience.
Now, with a renewed sense of purpose, Never Home are back with “Set Sail Alone”, a triumphant return to form, showcasing the energy and passion of a band that never missed a step.
Upcoming EP Beautiful Years is the other side of the same coin as Never Home. While the rookie collection reflected on the struggles of early adulthood, Beautiful Years illuminates the lessons learned. Wiser, yet hopeful, the new music celebrates growth, acknowledges faults, and charts Never Home’s exciting path forward.
Fans of Anberlin, The Wonder Years, and The Dangerous Summer will find a strong connection with the new music; “Set Sail Alone” is a captivatingly honest anthem, splaying emo with contemporary alternative rock, a track sunny with nostalgia but distinctively fresh as Never Home celebrate the beginning of a new chapter.
