From the ‘Wellerman’ to ‘Heather on the Hill’, Nathan Evans’ catchy sounds, deep lyrics, and unmistakable voice (including a typical Scottish accent) continue to touch and inspire people across the world. The story of Nathan Evans is reminiscent of a modern internet fairy tale. In 2020, the then-amateur singer triggered an international hype with his viral reinterpretation of the traditional song ‘Wellerman’, creating a completely new musical genre: the sea shanty sound.

Now, after four years, a double-platinum record (UK), and countless awards later, Nathan is back with more music to share. The 29-year-old singer-songwriter lyricises stories from life, asking questions and providing answers, hitting listeners with nostalgia and heartfelt melodies, resulting in catchy singles such as ‘Catch You When You Fall’ or ‘Driving To Nowhere’.

Moving through the genres of shanty sounds to pop, Nathan has landed on a happy medium of folk music. Combining soft guitar chords with deep words and traditional Scottish instruments, Nathan has unlocked the world of Scottish Folk Music with his hit single ‘Heather On The Hill’. ‘HOTH’ is a love letter to his wife and his hometown of Scotland, with lyrics filled with colour and hope.

The song’s significant impact is clear from its success, as it has been featured in prominent playlists (reaching #29 in the Viral 50 in the UK and #44 on the official UK singles charts) and has earned Nathan Evans invitations to appear on popular TV shows and prestigious stages worldwide. Nathan proves time and time again that he speaks exactly the musical language his fans around the world want to hear:

“Oh my love,” said to me,

“Will you meet me by the sea?

You can kiss me Underneath the misty moon

She is stunning, she is pretty

She’s as warm as amber Whiskey

And as bonny as a heather on the hill.”

It is the tangibility, the authenticity, the closeness to home that make Nathan Evans the likeable, exceptional artist that he is. Since his musical journey began, he has been sharing his life and artistic work with his fans on social media. The numbers speak for themselves: almost 350k Instagram followers, more than 1.8 million TikTok followers, and 6.5 million monthly Spotify listeners. It is evident fans don’t want to miss anything from the man who’s gone his own way without losing sight of his roots.
