Leicester’s Mouth Culture today add to their increasingly banger-stacked catalogue with the release of their deliciously scathing new single ‘Ratbag’, produced by Max Helyer from You Me At Six with the band’s longtime collaborator Jamie Ward and out now via InVogue Records. The band say: “Dripping in swagger, grit, and unapologetic attitude, this song is the soundtrack to male recklessness — an anthem for those left in its wake. Fast talk, quick exits, and a trail of burned bridges define the ones who run, dodge, and never face up — but the walls are closing in. This track serves as a raw and unfiltered callout, a middle finger to those who think they’ll never be caught. Beneath the bravado and chaos lies nothing but insecurity wrapped in arrogance — a boy masquerading as a man. Some will hear it as a warning, others as a mirror. If the shoe fits, wear it.”
‘Ratbag’ comes hot off the heels of a string of exciting festival announcements for Mouth Culture with the band added to the bills of Reading & Leeds Festivals and The Great Escape this year. They will also be going international on Vans Warped Tour USA in Florida in November. These dates are in addition to their slot on Slam Dunk Festival this May and follow a slew of shows across the country on You Me At Six’s final tour, supporting Hot Milk and smashing their own headliners.
2024 poised Mouth Culture as a band on the edge of exploding, their year culminating with an incendiary (and sweaty) headline show at London’s iconic Underworld in November. The band levelled stages and ignited enthused singalongs with their supreme take on modern rock music wherever they went.
Mouth Culture also released their ‘Whatever The Weather’ EP via InVogue Records a few months back to critical acclaim. Tracks like ‘Everyday’, ‘Dead In Love’ and ‘No Shame’ have been spun on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show, Indie Show, Introducing Rock and Future Artists as well as across Kerrang! Radio. The band were tipped in Kerrang!’s Sound of 2024 list and did not disappoint with their joyful journey through the year delighting a growing legion of fans.
Mouth Culture’s admiration of British rock is pinned proudly to their sleeves, with the cheekiness of Lower Than Atlantis and arena-ready acclaim of You Me At Six thriving within the folds of their recent releases, but there’s so much more to uncover. There are flickers of nu-metal aggression, bubblegum pop glitter and indie rock earnestness, all tied together by an attitude and exuberance that only they can deliver. This is a band playing with a veritable multitude of influences and bringing something fresh to the studio and stage all at once.
