About Morning In May: Known for descriptive lyrics that bring songs to life in a cinematic way, Morning In May finds themselves at the forefront of pop-rock. “We wanted to really create something new that was scratching the itch between Modern Rock and genuine Emo.” Says lead vocalist Jake Bartolic.
The band strives to be an outlet of discovery for their fan-base. “I want people to understand the depths of their feelings not face value, really follow the breadcrumbs back to the reason they are who they are. I want people to understand on a deeper level their true purpose.” Bartolic says. “I would like to write the script for confidence so people can play the part.”
The band brings their neon-driven, energetic show to life by touring extensively, including Warped Tour 18’ and alongside names such as The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Millionaires, Hawthorne Heights, Escape The Fate, Asking Alexandria, Ice Nine Kills, I Set My Friends On Fire, Underoath, August Burns Red and more. The band has headlined shows at Hollywood’s Whiskey A-Go-Go and has played Launch Music Conference.
Morning In May has recently released their single “A Master Class In Classless Acts” showcases witty lyrics and catchy melodies as they venture in the new era for the band. “When Master Class was done the producer and band looked at each other like “What is this?” We went off the rails with the original vision of the song and it became something none of us could really put a label to.” Says Bartolic regarding the new track. “The song itself is about the possession and love we have that ultimately ends in our own demise. Think of a first hand account of Jeffrey Dahmer knowing he was a monster, knowing he couldn’t stop, and knowing he himself had to be put down. This is our dramatic take on being human.”
The band has the ability to create addictive singles such as “Table Etiquette,” produced by Matt Malpass (Blink 182, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Lotus) and have showcased unique songwriting with their full-length studio album Dead Set Slander.
Morning In May has worked with notable artists such as Escape The Fate’s frontman Craig Mabbitt on their single, “Orpheus in Retrospect,” released in October of 2020. MIM has maintained relationships with Heydude Shoes, Spirit Airlines and Dynamic Talent International. They have been previously signed to We Are Triumphant, Manic Kat Records, Needful Things/Tragic Hero Records and Ghost Killer Entertainment.
Now, they’re geared up to release their anthem-ridden new single, “Midnights In Malibu.” The track radiates a glossy atmosphere with an ear-worm of a chorus. “The song is about not wanting to go home. When you spend all your time in the car and that’s your literal vacation. If you can’t afford the beach, the only escape is some time to yourself.” Bartolic says regarding the new single. “I found myself at times in my life. Just wishing home was somewhere else but I was stuck in my own patterns with less than desirable people with absolutely no escape.” Stream “Midnights In Malibu” February 27 across all platforms.
