Leading up to the album release, MOD SUN kept his pop-punk affinities and grunge-tinged vocals under wraps until today, only revealing the album artwork, title, and tracks’ lyrics via his social platforms. Listen to God Save The Teen HERE “I miss when an album felt like an event,” MOD SUN explains. “When thinking about how to release God Save The Teen I wanted to bring back that experience to the listener. Nowadays we get so many singles before the album comes out that it kinda ruins it—it just feels like a bunch of songs sitting together, but not living together. All 12 songs are previously unreleased so when you press play on the first song you are being taken into a world and being told a full story. It’s a risk and that’s exactly what I did with all these songs too. I’m more proud of this record than anything I’ve ever done.” “A young person growing up in these times is something I care passionately about, I want to be someone to help the younger generation as much as possible,” MOD SUN continues. “The societal pressures and standards they are dealing with every day is absurd.” MOD SUN has garnered continuous praise, with Rolling Stone notably sharing, “Three months ago, the rapper-turned-rocker scrapped a big chunk of this new album, God Save The Teen. The one he rebuilt is a mission statement for himself (and whoever else happens to need it)…On his latest album God Save The Teen, he wants to be sure that none of his fans are left in the dark.” After previously working alongside his fiancée, singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, on their 2021 single “Flames” (>106 million streams), MOD SUN has dedicated the track No. 3, “Avril’s Song,” to his “soulmate” and donning a vulnerable collaboration with her on “Shelter.” Additionally, MOD has teamed up with alt-newcomer Royal & the Serpent on “SOS.” Across the 12-track collection, MOD SUN reaches his peak of both authenticity and unfiltered emotion, as he explores love, nostalgia, and learning to appreciate life. “I dove deep into the power of love on this album,” MOD SUN shares. “My song ‘Shelter’ features my fiancée Avril Lavigne, and is all about finding protection from the world in the person you are with. My song ‘SOS’ featuring Royal & The Serpent is all about the magic of love at first sight and being completely helpless to the power it has on you. I’m proud, I’m grateful, I’m at my best as an artist right now and that’s what this album is to me.” Last weekend, MOD SUN joined the X Games in Aspen, CO where he breathed new life into his gritty cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 hit single, “Iris”— watch his performance here. After supporting blackbear in 2022, MOD SUN will return to the road to headline with Stand Atlantic as support.
