Today, San Diego crossover hardcore band MIZERY unleash their new self-titled EP through Flatspot Records. Marking the band’s first new music in ten years, Mizery EP serves as a symbol of persistence and a call to action in today’s trying times. The songs defy a steady route, mixing infectious rap-sung vocals with metallic riffs, inventive grooves, and a few twists. It also marks a lasting legacy for late drummer Cayle Sain (who passed in December 2023), with his intense delivery on full display throughout the bulk of the EP.
From opener “Renegade Rhythm” it’s clear Mizery is standing on business, addressing the state of the world while making music built to stay in your head. The song gets a video treatment from vocalist José Luna and his True Colors Collective, following the band and friends around their hometown. Watch it HERE.
The Mizery EP is an overtly political record built around renewal and reflection. Across the six tracks lyrics are utilized as a weapon, as José shares, “It’s a reflection of a world that some of us see, and others choose to ignore. The acts of violence, the fear of violence, & the repercussions of violence.”
Mizery EP was produced and recorded by Taylor Young at The Pit. Stream it HERE and purchase through Flatspot Records.
MIZERY will join Haywire for a hometown San Diego show on April 12th. In late May, the band will head to the east coast for a run with support from Risk and Quick to Judge on select shows. Full dates and ticket links below.
