If Trap Metal came screaming out of the digital womb, a sonic playa hater wired to disrupt the code of those who came before, then the likes of MIMI BARKS are the future of the glitchy genre. Her “from-the-heart-guts-n-soul” smash of trap beats and raspy, pissed-off vocals has been christened: “DOOM TRAP” and the name fits.
2024, saw Mimi Barks release her highly anticipated debut album, THIS IS DOOM TRAP, a record co-produced by Mimi Barks herself alongside MorgothBeatz, Brian Spencer, Kenny Graves and KOEN and what came from that was a sound of music eating its young, imagine Hip Hop word fire, electronic beats and slashing guitars chewed up and spat out by Trap’s chopped beats and distorted basslines.
Commenting on her album release Mimi Barks shares,
”I believed in the chaos which is my mind, the homicide to my healing.
Great resistance is the death of flow of energy.
The devil on my right, the angel of death on my left.
I battled fire with fire rather than transcending the low vibrations.
Writing this album catapulted me through different stages of self-destruction and unknown existential fears;

Initially, I considered naming the album Final Destination/Death Without Satisfaction.
But as of today, I’m still here… THIS IS DOOM TRAP”
