Maya Lane ended 2023 on a high as she completed her first ever tour as guest to Far From Saints, a new band featuring Kelly Jones of Stereophonics and the Austin Americana duo The Wind and The Wave. Not only did she win over audiences in the biggest venues she has played to date (2-3000 capacity theatres and concert halls), but she also dueted with the band’s Dwight Baker to introduce a brand new song that they had written together. Eager to build upon that positive experience, Maya now powers into 2024 as she shares the new single ‘Bump Into Me’. Listen HERE. Watch the official video HERE.

‘Bump Into Me’ sets the tone for the year ahead as Maya infuses brighter pop and raw live band sonic elements into the tapestry of her bohemian singer-songwriter sound. Layered into ornate vocal harmonies, her stylish, chic vocal tone is the star of the show in a song which explores the inner conflicts that arise when self-confidence and self-doubt are both competing for dominance.

Maya says, “‘Bump Into Me’ was written in the first writing session I ever had with Rich Cooper and Jonny Latimer. I went in with the first line ‘me and my ego are falling out’ and the idea of wanting to run away from yourself. I am a huge over-thinker and can often get trapped in my thoughts. ‘Bump Into Me’ explores the crazy possibilities you dream about doing when you want to escape from life but also the realisation that no matter where you go, you will always take yourself with you.”

Maya wrote ‘Bump Into Me’ with Rich Cooper (Rina SawayamaBirdy), who also produced the track, and Jonny Lattimer (Ellie GouldingBecky Hill) – the same team behind last summer’s single ‘24F’. Her list of top tier collaborators already includes Rob Milton (Holly Humberstone, The 1975), Jonathan Quarmby (Lewis Capaldi, James Arthur, Sam Ryder), Benjamin Francis Leftwich (Holly Humberstone), Hayley Gene Penner (Lennon StellaThe Chicks),  Katie Rae (The Shires) and Wayne Hector (Tate McRaeBirdy)

She adds, “When writing ‘Bump Into Me’, I instantly had a clear vision for the music video. I wanted to portray the unserious, fun, summer vibe of the song. Melody Berkery and I spent hours searching for a farmer who was willing to let me run around and drive a campervan through their field! We ended up getting so lucky with the weather (UK summer sun is never very reliable) and the video ended up even better than I imagined.”

Still just 20-years-old, Maya Lane has been patiently developing her career since debuting early on 2022 with the track ‘Still The Same’. Yet her story dates back to her childhood when she vowed to become a musician after being astounded by seeing Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ tour. It wasn’t long before she was getting in touch with every local venue, open mic night and festival to find any opportunity to play her songs in public, and she went on to share folk-pop covers of her favourite songs via social media.

She started to gain wider attention in her late teens, resulting in signing management and publishing deals with Ferocious Talent and Stellar Songs respectively. Since then, Maya has been cultivating her creativity across all elements of her music, whether by performing at a host of London’s key showcase venues, diving into Nashville culture during a writing trip, overseeing her accompanying music videos or collaborating with select vintage fashion brands. Her key influences are natural choices for a young artist with a mature soul: from contemporary talents such as Adam MelchorHAIMNoah Kahan and Kacey Musgraves to timeless songwriters such as Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell. Her first four tracks were compiled in 2022’s ‘Childish Games’ EP ahead of the 2023 singles ‘24F’ and ‘Just A Girl’.
