‘SPACE JUNK’
Limited Edition double LP release for
Record Store Day US / UK
20 Instrumental Tracks,
All previously unreleased

Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives have announced an exclusive Limited Edition, 20-track Double LP for Record Store Day US UK 2025, which this year falls on April 12th.

Titled ‘Space Junk’ and put together in conjunction with SnakefarmMarty’s global label home, this is the band’s first ever full instrumental album, produced by Marty and the Fabulous Superlatives working alongside regular engineer Mick Conley; all of the studio recordings here are previously unreleased – some tracked at Capitol Studios, Hollywood, some at House of Blues studio, Nashville – and focus on a celebrated aspect of Marty’s longstanding recording career.

‘Dreamcatcher’, the striking artwork for ‘Space Junk’, has been provided by Herb Alpert of Tijuana Brass and A&M Records fame – a large canvas painted by Alpert back in 2017.

“Instrumentals have always been a part of the Fabulous Superlatives repertoire,” reflects Marty“but this is the first completely instrumental album we’ve done, largely inspired by two of my favourite bands from sixties, The Ventures and Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. They did some dangerously cool instrumental records.

“Recording the tracks for ‘Space Junk’ turned us back into kids with our first guitars,” he continues, “and I hope it takes the listener for a ride. It makes me forget my problems and remember why I play guitar and get to dress up in cowboy clothes. Mainly, I want to inspire some kid to buy an instrument and make a difference.”

‘Space Junk’ follows in the footsteps of the acclaimed 2023 studio album, ‘Altitude’Marty’s first for Snakefarm, which was hailed as yet another top quality addition to an incredible catalogue…

As an AMA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, 5-time GRAMMY-winning artist and Country Music Hall of Famer, Marty Stuart’s place in the Country Music pantheon is cast in stone. Along with the Fabulous Superlatives, he has also been inducted into the Musicians’ Hall of Fame, and has previously celebrated both his 50th year in Nashville and 30th anniversary as a Grand Ole Opry member.

Recently, Marty announced that The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum would welcome the addition of the ‘Marty Stuart Collection’ to the museum’s permanent holdings. His life-long collection of more than 22,000 items is the largest private assemblage of country music artefacts in the world; it includes items pertaining to his own illustrious career, which began with his time in Lester Flatt’s band, and then with Johnny Cash’s road band, before heading off down his own path of celebrated group and solo work.

As ‘Space Junk’ readily attests, Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives continue to lead the charge for and honour & burnish the legacy of a musical genre now very much on the rise worldwide.
