HIGHLY ANTICIPATED REVEALER LP OUT SEPTEMBER 9 ON VERVE FORECAST
PERFORMS AT NPR MUSIC’S TINY DESK
August 17, 2022—“Life According To Raechel,” the latest offering from Grammy-nominated Madison Cunningham’s highly anticipated forthcoming album Revealer (due September 9 via Verve Forecast), is out now. Listen to/share the track HERE.
“A little over a year ago, Tyler Chester convinced me to hop in a van headed for Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas, in a day’s notice,” Cunningham says. “In what I can only describe as a holy set of circumstances, all of the pieces fell into place that week to record ‘Life According To Raechel,’ a song that I was deeply afraid to record. A song about losing my grandmother.”
She continues, “Many tears were shed throughout making it, and I felt the power of real community and friendship, packed with its imperfections and confessions.”
Cunningham recently joined the new music lead Louis Cato and the Late Show Band for an off-air performance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Watch her performance of “Anywhere” from her upcoming album HERE.
She also stopped by NPR Music to perform songs from Revealer for a Tiny Desk Concert. NPR Music raves, “The clear leader of her band of crack, Southern California musicians…she was also our audacious guide, steering us toward exploration with the shrewd parts she played on three different guitars over the course of four songs.” Watch/share the performance HERE.
Pre-order/pre-save Revealer HERE, and check out the webstore for an exclusive signed splatter vinyl HERE.
Cunningham’s previous single “Hospital” reached #1 Most Added at both AAA and Non-Comm radio; watch/share the video for the song HERE and the recently released performance video HERE.
Revealer finds Cunningham working with Mike Elizondo (Twenty One Pilots, Gary Clark Jr.) as well as Tucker Martine (Neko Case, Sufjan Stevens) and longtime producer and collaborator Tyler Chester.
“To me, ‘revealer’ is the binding theme of the album,” says Cunningham. “The hand that slowly chips away at the mirror in which you see yourself and the world and replaces it with the reflection that is most true.” The album is full of confessions, intimations and hard truths—a self-portrait of a young artist who is full of doubt and uncertainty yet bursting with exciting ideas about music and life.
Cunningham will be hitting the road on her fall headlining Revealer Tour, kicking off this September with Bendigo Fletcher supporting. Tickets are on sale HERE, and see below for a complete list of dates.
The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter is fresh off the heels of a successful 2021 which found her opening for Harry Styles at his sold-out Madison Square Garden shows, writing an original song “Broken Harvest” for the NPR “Morning Edition” Song Project and later performing the song on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”
Cunningham’s list of champions continues to grow including Harry Styles, Remi Wolf, John Mayer, Alessia Cara and Sara Bareilles. The artist first picked up a guitar at age seven, and by age twelve was singing and performing alongside her five siblings in church. By the age of fifteen, Cunningham realized songwriting was a passion she wanted to pursue, citing Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan as key inspirations.
