LONDON, U.K. / NASHVILLE, TN. — (July 14, 2023) — GRAMMY Award-winning artist Lukas Nelson’s anticipated new album, Sticks and Stones, is out today via 6ACE Records/Thirty Tigers. Stream/purchase HERE. Critical acclaim for Sticks and Stones includes:

“makes the genre his own…This is a fresh and welcome addition to what he’s offered so far”
—The Wall Street Journal

“thoughtful, timeless Southern-style rock featuring anything from introspective lyricism to virtuoso-style musicianship”—The Tennessean

“These songs are tried-and-true boot stompers, a particular style that feels like Nelson’s sweet spot. They’re also a showcase for some of his most masterful storytelling”—No Depression

“enormously upbeat, playful and frankly joyous record”—Holler

“POTR’s most playful outing, Sticks and Stones comes off like a bracing exhalation of post-pandemic relief”—Uncut

“A wonderful release and heartening for the genre that a major artist releases something as authentic and crafted as this”—Country Music People (Album of the Month)

“each song is a stylistic love letter to various snapshots of country music’s century-long history”—Dallas Observer

Self-produced by Nelson and his longtime band, POTR, the record consists of twelve spirited tracks including current single, “Sticks and Stones.” This follows Nelson’s previous single, “More Than Friends,” featuring CMA and ACM Award-winning artist, Lainey Wilson, which reached #1 at Americana Radio and is currently top 5 at Texas Radio.

Sticks and Stones was written solely by Nelson with the hope of bringing people together at the forefront of his mind, bringing upbeat energy and a sense of fun. Across the album, Nelson explores the universal human experiences of love, celebration, longing and humor, while also capturing the musical power and electricity of the band’s live performances.

In celebration of the new music, Nelson and the band will continue to tour this year, including headline shows this summer at Missoula’s The Wilma, Bozeman’s The Elm, Spokane’s Knitting Factory Concert House, Denver’s Ogden Theatre, Kansas City’s Knuckleheads and St. Louis’ Delmar Theatre among others. Additional fall headline dates to be announced soon. Nelson and the band will also join Tedeschi Trucks Band for shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Boston’s TD Garden in September. See below for current itinerary.

Of the record, Nelson reflects, “This album is about celebrating the human connection, joy and excitement. We went from quiet and introspective on A Few Stars Apart to something big and fun to really showcase the band’s talent and performance. You can listen to the album Sticks and Stones from start to finish and get the songs to dance to and then the quiet, poignant songs. To me, this album is the perfect setlist.”
