Lovesick Lullaby’, the new single from Yungblud, is out now (listen HERE). The brazen, uptempo track will be followed by a stylish video directed by Charlie Sarsfield, which goes live at 4pm today. The 27-year-old artist from Doncaster saw his last two albums hit Number 1 in the UK and break into the Billboard Hot 100, and he has amassed over 6 billion streams globally.

In the new music video, Yungblud, clad in Burberry, is seen in the back of a Mini Cooper before arriving to live it up at a packed-out pub. The video is peppered with pop culture references, including a clear nod to the iconic 1982 Maxell Break the Sound Barrier” advert, with Yungblud posing in an armchair, blasted by the force of the speaker. The track itself is an unapologetic, in-your-face anthem that celebrates the best of British pop and rock.

Speaking about the new single, Yungblud said, ‘Making this song was a f*cking party and you can hear that on the recording.

He added, “[I tried to] let my subconscious do a lot of the talking and then make sense of my words the following afternoon in a kitchen, hungover, eating fish and chips with a cup of tea.

I’ve been on a journey trying to find meaning in different places all over the world, for which I am forever grateful, but it felt as though my feet left the ground a little too much and I had to bring myself back… to British music, to British art and culture.

Lovesick Lullaby’ video pays homage to Maxell’s 1982 ‘Break the Sound Barrier’ ad.

Lovesick Lullaby follows the release of the nine minute and six second epic, ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’, which premiered as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 in March, and received high praise elsewhere:

…marks a new chapter for the seemingly irrepressible artist… sky shattering vocals worthy of Steven Tyler or Axl Rose” – The Independent

Yungblud makes [his] grand return with an epic new single.” – DIY

Gargantuan in size and scope, ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’ is rock Babylon, with Yungblud attempting to embrace his truth.” – CLASH

[‘Hello Heaven, Hello’]… might well be his Bohemian Rhapsody” – The London Standard

News of the release follows Yungblud’s appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show in March where he joined guests on the sofa to discuss the forthcoming album as well as the return of his own-curated festival Bludfest, set for its second year on 21st June at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes. Speaking about his motivation behind the festival and its affordable price point, Yungblud explained, “It needed to represent a new idea and a new generation. Gigs at the minute are extortionately expensive”. See Yungblud’s performance on The Jonathan Ross show HERE.
