“From the artwork to the album title to the sound of lead single ‘In Vain,’ Private Mind clearly have a strong love for the bands of the ’90s and early 2000s, but similar to likeminded peers like Koyo and Stand Still, they really know how to make it their own.”BrooklynVegan

“A compelling blend of guttural screams and melodic vocal passages, underscored by equally dynamic instrumentation.”Idioteq

Long Island melodic hardcore band Private Mind have released their new album, The Truth You See, on Triple B Records. The record features four new songs as well as four tracks from the band’s 2020 self-titled debut. Dark and moody lyrics meet a volatile energy that takes roots from the quintessential Long Island emo meets hardcore sound. Much of The Truth You See deals with the frustrations of personal and interpersonal life, from conflicting values to communication. The music mimics these ups and downs through layered guitars and fast-beating drums, creating an immersive listening experience. The record walks the line between nostalgia and refreshing, never straying from a confident, high-energy.

Expanding on finding their sound, the band states:

“We dug into our inspirations and experiences in hopes to create something we enjoy and find refreshing that just felt right at the time. Long Island is a melting pot of style, character and inspiration. Whether it be the overpopulated suburbs to the mundane commutes or the many beautiful sights, it has a lot to offer. A hectic existence yet quite peaceful at times. Long Island has always had a thriving and innovative music scene. It’s inescapable the amount of influence from the many talented bands of generations past.”

The Truth You See was recorded, produced, and mixed by Greg Thomas of Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT and mastered by Bill Henderson of Azimuth Mastering. The record is available now through Triple B Records and can be streamed on Bandcamp with a shortened version on streaming services.

Private Mind is Dan Alivio (vocals/guitar), Sal Manaro (drums), Mike Varley (bass), and Kenny Lopez (guitar).
