————— After leaving the band almost a decade ago, founding vocalist Dave Jakes rejoins much loved Cambridge quintet, Lonely The Brave. The vocalist and songwriter was behind the band’s hugely acclaimed debut and sophomore albums, ‘The Day’s War’ (2015) and ‘Things Will Matter’ (2016), which combined have over 85 million streams on Spotify alone. The band will be playing two headline shows in November, the first being a hometown show at Cambridge Mash on the 12th November and then in London at Bush Hall on the 17th November. These shows will take place 10 years to the month since the band last played a headline show with Dave Jakes and mark a vital step back for the newly reunited five-piece. There will be a ticket / show pre-sale on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd ahead of general on sale Friday 24th. There was no big pre-conceived plan to start playing with Dave again, but it’s been the best thing ever. To all be in a rehearsal room together again, hearing his voice with the songs we wrote, being the band we were when we first started all this… It’s incredibly special and something all five of us are not taking for granted. The only reason we are here, coming back as our original lineup, is based solely on a sense of friendship, fun and freedom. It’s exciting for all of us, and we can’t wait to see you all at these two shows. They will be the first of many, but are definitely the only shows this year. See you in November!” ————— One of the most distinct and powerful voices in UK rock music, Jakes and the band had originally announced their parting of ways due to health reasons in early 2018. In the last few months, the band (who went on to release a further two albums with another vocalist, Jack Bennett) reached out to Jakes and started to rebuild their friendships and relationships that had understandably dissipated slightly over time. That slowly moved into discussions around having some fun in a practice room and running through some old Lonely The Brave material. Old chemistry quickly took shape, smiles and enjoyment took over from nerves, and five friends became a band again. What quickly became apparent to all, though, was there was unfinished business with this lineup. The desire to not just rehearse but also write new music took over, as well as a sense to take this all the more seriously than perhaps they had originally envisaged. A team was assembled involving a management duo of longtime super fans (former Kerrang! editor-in-chief and Alternative Press managing director Sam Coare, and Matt Hughes from the esteemed Good As Gold Group), alongside an agent the band had long admired (Steve Zapp at ITB, who had always supported the band, having previously placed them in arenas alongside Biffy Clyro).
