LOCK-IN recently played an adrenaline filled headline set at the This Feeling stage at Truck Festival. The five life-long friends originally from Sawbridgeworth have sold-out bigger venues in London on each tour, taking them from the Water Rats to Omeara and most recently The Garage, while further support has come from Radio 6BBC Music IntroducingRadio XSky Sports and talkSPORT. They also achieved a childhood ambition when they performed their singles ‘I Caught Feelings’ and ‘Get Over It’ in launch videos for West Ham United’s home and away kits.

Current single ‘Easy’ infuses the band’s upbeat indie-pop heart with a melancholic edge, their effervescent melodies now complemented by swirling vocal harmonies and atmospheric breakdowns that heightens the dramatic punch of its hook. While there’s pain in charismatic vocalist Benjy Leak’s lyrics (“Don’t go, don’t leave, please stay with me”), the song powers to a searing dramatic crescendo and ultimately reveals an optimistic outlook for the future.

Benjy says, “‘Easy’ explores the deeper side of LOCK-IN. We worked for over a year on this song which really made us dig deep into the emotion and meaning behind it. This contrasts perfectly with its upbeat and catchy chorus which gives a sense of optimism for the future. This felt quite literal to our writing process too. It felt really appropriate to release our biggest song on our biggest weekend of the year, after putting our all into it for so long. This track marks a new era for LOCK-IN and a positive step into our future.”

‘Easy’ was written by the band and produced by Curtis Elvidge at Premises Studios in Hackney

Completed by Benjy’s brother Joe Leak (lead guitar) plus Angus Moore (guitar), Sam Collins (bass) and Ollie Stacey (drums), LOCK-IN released their debut track ‘Teenager’ in the middle of lockdown late in 2020. Undeterred by being unable to perform live, they forged ahead with a series of independently released singles before dropping their debut EP ‘Boys Kiss Boys’ the following summer. It wasn’t long before they were making rapid progress in the live arena too, with other live highlights to date including festival dates at The Great Escape and Rewired plus shows with PlanetKomparissonThe K’s and Spangled. Despite all those early achievements the band are still just 21-24-years-old. Now ‘Easy’ perfectly positions them for the next stage in their ascent.
