Does it add up or subtract? The mysterious Limbonauts return with fierce, fizzing garage rock single The Information, grappling with the weaponisation of facts in a post-truth world. It is the first release in the Limbonauts’ 2025 singles club series, with a new track dropping every month. They manifested in this dimension in January 2024 and have built a following around the world with monthly single releases showcasing provocative lyrics, big melodies and dirty grooves. Every release is accompanied by dazzlingly imaginative state of the art videos. In a time when pop music is being cowed into silence, the Limbonauts have things to say. The release of The Information is accompanied by experimental B-side Emergency Contact, recorded in a one take improv session involving “organismic” synthesisers. Two Limbonauts manned vintage German Lyra 8 analogue synths designed by Vlad Kreimer, that create sounds in real time and never make the same sound twice. Meanwhile, vocalist Limbo-X recited a surrealist poem about Alice in Limboland, during which the Devil phones God to discuss the relationship between modern art and the apocalypse. Or something like that. “Alice fell down a bullet hole / Left by a hatchet man in a rabbit fur skin coat / Whose day job involved explaining abstract art / To a cardboard cutout of the Queen of Hearts …” The Limbonauts debut album, As Above So Below, dropped in January this year and has quickly accrued over 45,000 streams on Spotify. Thirteen unique album track videos have attracted over 50,000 views on YouTube. The Information marks the beginning of Limbo Phase 2, with a lot more excitement in store throughout the year.
